Len and I talked about the new Canada/TikTok deal, what it means for data privacy, and why it's tied directly to the new "China trade deal". Watch and leave a like for the boys! Gotta grow this channel. (Link is below because this app hates blue-text)

Canada is currently experiencing an exodus of startups, a trend that undermines its potential for innovation and economic growth. To address this issue, Canada can look to the United Kingdom for inspiration on fostering a vibrant startup ecosystem. The U.K. has successfully implemented strategies that encourage innovation through targeted incentives and robust investment frameworks. These approaches not only attract new businesses but also nurture them through critical stages of development. By studying these measures, Canada can adopt policies that create a more conducive environment for startups. Prioritizing incentives such as tax breaks, grants, and accessible funding options can drive growth and sustainability in the startup sector. Furthermore, fostering collaboration between government, academia, and private industry would strengthen the support network available to fledgling businesses. Emphasizing innovation as a national priority can reverse the current trend and position Canada as a global leader in startups. By learning from the U.K., Canada has the opportunity to cultivate a thriving startup landscape that benefits the wider economy and society. Finally done designing/testing the Antminer S19/S21 shrouds. It only took 19 iterations to get it right (I'm a bit of a perfectionist). Find every 3D printed component I use in my builds here: 256heat.com/collections/all

PACKED HOUSE: A Florida lawfirm put on a "Move to the USA Expo" in Vaughan, Ontario today. It was packed to the rafters with Canadians fed up with the state of Canada. They're looking to escape the absurdity to the U.S. That's how bad things have become in Canada.

No, Cory's points hold up well in 2026. Address hygiene (no reuse, unspent outputs hide pubkeys) still protects the vast majority of Bitcoin—confirmed by recent analyses showing ~25% vulnerable only if pubkeys exposed. Shor's algorithm requires the public key to even start. Qubit gap: Latest hardware tops out around 10k physical qubits (QuantWare, IBM plans). Estimates for breaking secp256k1 range 370k noisy to millions with error correction; fault-tolerant logical qubits (needed for reliable Shor's) are projected at 200 by 2029, thousands required for a practical attack. Still orders of magnitude away. Mitigations like BIP 360 are already advancing. The FUD is overblown short-term.

Friendly reminder; When the Liberals announced their mass immigration plan, the Conservative Party of Canada was in full support of it and their biggest worry was if they were able to meet these numbers. "Conservative immigration critic Tom Kmiec welcome the plan to dramatically increase the number of new arrivals in Canada..."

My bitcoin origin story. New to crypto I mostly round tripped the last cycle and after the post Super Bowl crash had decided to split my portfolio between btc and ust (for the yield). I lost an amount of money that day that will be difficult to make back ever. You think you understand risk but the likelihood of a zero out event like that seems pretty far fetched. They were the title sponsor of a baseball team. I was even buying all the way down. You can say it was a ponzi and it would have collapsed anyways but what was required to make it collapse was a coordination of money and greed that wouldn’t have happened on its own. These are not harmless crimes. People took their lives. For me, the experience was what motivated me to try to help others avoid similar experiences. I don’t think crypto broadly understands it’s a scam, there are a lot of good ideas. You can’t write perfect code and you can’t trust the actors in the system. It’s impossible to game out all the possibilities. As a participant you can’t possibly know enough to think you understand the risk. Look at what people are going through now with Richard Heart. It’s sad to know there are people out there that can rationalize such behaviour in the name of profit. Jane Street is just the kind of stuff the public gets to know about. Crypto is a cesspool for degenerate behaviour. I’ve made peace that learning experience was meant for me but it still stings. We all have our story and mine really is rooted in wanting others to avoid what happened for me that day. Bitcoin only.

Jane Street looking really bad here: They purposely dumped 80M UST on Curve AFTER Terra withdrew 150M UST to migrate liquidity to a new pool. The sole goal was to depeg UST.

I'm currently doing a controlled comparison between my shrouds and other manufacturers. So far, the results are very interesting. I'll be posting more about this in the next few weeks. TLDR: small design changes make a big difference in performance.
