What has made so many people lose their humanity? In early 2024, at the Las Vegas Athletic Club, a woman struggled and dr0wn in front of multiple people. Not 1 person checked on her or helped her. Not one. Where do we even go from here?

As a former lifeguard, drowning isn’t the loud, splashing scene we see in movies; it is often a silent, desperate struggle to stay above the surface. Understanding that a person in trouble can’t wave or shout is the first step in truly watching out for one another. Lifeguard are trained to see this, most people aren't.

@anyandevery Most conservative boomers love social security. So they don’t consider it fraud. I do.

I hate to say it, but “fraud” (in the sense of how a lot of conservatives define it) has very little to do with national debt. If you run the numbers, the majority of our debt is a result of “mandatory” spending. I’m all for eliminating fraud, but it saves us pennies. What needs to be cut is Social Security, Medicare / Medicaid, and our national defense spending. The latter can be cut by a quarter to a third because we do not need to spend more than the next nine countries combined. Getting rid of the Social Security Ponzi scheme alone would give us the budget surplus.

@DelusionPosting My dad has never taken a sick day. Ever. Even when he gets in a major workplace accident, he'll be there immediately after the surgery. Meanwhile, my mom always takes the maximum amount of sick days and just sleeps in all day.

We don't hate corporate America enough... Buddy of mine works for a public company for 7 years. That company was acquired. He had over 360 hours of PTO. New company: "You can only roll over 240 hours. The rest will be banked and paid out when you leave the company, but you can't use them." Also new company: "We are also only going to recognize your experience at your previous company, not your prior experience so your PTO will drop from 5 weeks per year to 3..." They are going to lose a good employee instead of giving him his accrued time off and an extra 2 weeks per year. This guy regularly works nights and weekends when necessary to deliver for the company etc. Such bullshit man...
