You buy a pre-con condo in Vancouver like a responsible adult. Cuz Tiff Macklem looks you dead in the eye and swears rates are “Low for the foreseeable future.” Rates shoot to moon. You can’t close. Developers sue you straight into bankruptcy. Carney’s Liberals ride in, bail out the developers with taxpayer cash, and hand the units over for low-income housing. Congratulations, champ — you’re still “in” the property. Just not the way you pictured. Only one party got made whole… and you own nothing and are happy?!.

There are citizens in my riding who are unable to afford their mortgage renewal. The only options for them are to sell at a loss or face foreclosure & a court ordered sale. This is why court ordered sales are on the rise in BC. There are no bailouts for them but they will be paying for Carney's bailouts for corporate developers in Vancouver.
