The federal corporation database with Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada says the Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network was "dissolved for non-compliance" on Friday. The group had been registered in British Columbia under three directors, including Charlotte Kates, who was arrested in 2024 after making a speech at a rally saying "long live October 7," praising the 2023 Hamas attack on Israel. Samidoun had said that Kates was released with conditions, and no charges were laid. Samidoun did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs issued a statement reacting to the dissolution of the group on Monday, calling it "an important community win." It says in the post to social media that the move reflects its "sustained, determined" advocacy. "Organizations and individuals tied to terrorism have no place operating under the protection of Canadian law," the statement said.
