Very humbled after last night’s special private screening of RESURRECTION. A story of hope, perseverance, and redemption. I want to thank everyone who helped make the evening possible and everyone who stayed for the honest conversations afterward. We may not agree on everything, but I’m grateful we can agree on one thing: if we truly want to help people, we need every tool available. Compassion, prevention, treatment, recovery, housing, harm reduction, connection... none of these should compete with each other when lives are on the line. Let’s never forget that.

This time, we had the privilege of seeing Dylan Wolfe’s new film, Resurrection, which tells the remarkable and inspiring story of @guyfelicella — from his years as a drug addict and gang member on the streets of @CityofVancouver’s DTES, to the life he’s living now—as a motivational speaker, outreach worker, husband, and Dad of three. My heartfelt thanks to Guy for his candidness, both in the film and during our Q & A tonight. The Khalsa Day Parade is underway. The parade will take place until 2:00 p.m. Its route starts on Cecelia Road near the Gurdwara Singh Sabha of Victoria temple in Burnside, proceeds to Burnside Road, Alpha Street, Douglas Street, Finlayson Street, and Jutland Road before returning to Cecelia Road. We will post any major traffic concerns and emergency messaging. Have fun, everyone, and take safety precautions with the hot weather. @ChiefVicPD

We are taking a new, innovative approach to disrupting the illicit drug trade to save lives at risk because of the toxic drug crisis. Today, B.C. launched Track and Trace, a first-in-Canada project bringing together scientists, police, and physicians to map the illicit drug supply in near real time. Using advanced technology, Track and Trace can detect distinct chemical patterns across samples, helping link drugs across communities and uncover connections that were previously invisible or slow to detect. Police agencies across British Columbia are engaged in this work, strengthening coordination and intelligence sharing province-wide. This technology and interdisciplinary approach opens up entirely new ways to understand how toxic drugs are produced, moved, and distributed, helping identify emerging threats earlier and track the most harmful supply chains. This is about staying ahead of a supply that is constantly evolving, and giving frontline teams better tools to respond, target organized crime, and protect people. @ubc @vicpdcanada @BCRCMP @surreyps

VicPD is at the scene of a MVI involving a semi truck that took down a hydro pole. Burnside Road East between Dupplin Road and Balfour Avenue will be closed (vehicle and pedestrians) while crews assess and fix the damage. ETA for the closure is 3-4 hours.
