As it should be. They have got discretionary allocation so they should not be allowed to flip without some penalty. Even in India when there is discretionary allocation - like to anchor investors- there is a lockup.

Sure, things can be better, but it's crazy how transparent and safe the Indian markets are compared to the US, all thanks to SEBI and the exchanges. It's not just Fidelity; even other big brokers seem to have 'flipping' restrictions in place.

Seeing so many tweets ranting about lack of innovation by India Inc but that’s not even half the story.
Same people are not restricted from doing sth on their own but typing is easier than doing sth.
It’s basically the whole eco system or lack of it
* A government which treats equity market ( listed / unlisted) as satta and on record said that it doesn’t take much efforts to make money via capital gains.
* A regulatory system which extracts money ( taxes and informal taxes) and its share of flesh at each step from entrepreneurs even before they make any money
* a public mindset which values services jobs better than any other type of employment
* A meagre PE-VC set-up which comes from the overall lack of public risk taking mindset
* Parents, family, society set-up which respects employment over business for perceived safety

Rich and ultra rich are expected to do something for innovation, entrepreneurship and charity.
Govt/Taxation is an impediment than enabler ..that is known.
