As of tonight all my kids will be graduated from high school and over 18. As a father to kids ages 26, 23, 20, and 18, I understand that parenting doesn’t end when they become legal adults. But I feel like I have reached a significant milestone as a father and in my life, and at a relatively young age (46). I’m extremely proud of my family and looking forward to the next stage of life. A wedding in less than 2 months… 🙌🏼

@RobinSharma I agree. I’d also add purpose, family dinners, quiet mornings, and the ability to help others through your experiences.

@blakeaburge Your actions eventually silence opinions without unnecessary arguments.

I know nothing about dance, yet my girls love it.
A few things I have learned being a girl dad...
1) Your presence is everything.
I know nothing, can offer no insight, or help them get better with things like dance.
....and they know it.
Yet just being there is everything (make sure you bring the flowers).
2) Confidence can be shown
My girls are all confident, but it takes reminding.
They are probably sick of hearing me say we don't use terms like:
"I can't" or "I hope" in our house.
Put your best foot forward and don't be afraid to fail.
3) Your team is everything
Yes, my girls will fight with each other (usually over a stuffed animal...big stuff you know).
Yet one thing they know (because I always say it), "you girls are on the same team."
That means you stick up for each other, you look out for each other, and no matter what, you have each other's back.
Needless to say, I love being a girl dad.
For my girl dads out there, what is one lesson you have learned raising yours?

@kushika_twt Cost of building in that environment could be a consideration. Also, you trade cooling for heating costs...but interesting thought!

Neuralink is prepping to test its first Blindsight implant later this year.
A lot of people hear "vision restoration" and assume it's about fixing damaged eyes.
That's not the plan.
The plan is to send visual information directly to the visual cortex of the brain.
Even if the eyes are gone.
Even if the optic nerve is gone.
That's a very different and very interesting conversation.
@neuralink
Elon Musk@elonmusk
@deaflibertarian I am confident that Neuralink will restore hearing one day, just as we will restore vision with our Blindsight implant

I believe it’s good that parents “force” their kids to do things they’d rather not do.
It could be 6 AM summer XC runs with the team.
It could be ordering their own food at a restaurant.
It could be communicating with teachers.
Parenting, teaching and coaching should not always be comfortable for the person in charge or the child/student/athlete. Practice doing uncomfortable things now so that growth happens and more can be handled later.

Imagine if children could review their parents before birth.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"Patient. Emotionally regulated. Listens well. Safe under pressure. Strong boundaries. Would live with them again."
⭐
"Uses fear as communication. Takes disagreement personally. Confuses obedience with respect. Random emotional reactivity. Do not recommend."
The funny thing is that most parents spend years trying to control their children's behavior instead of becoming the kind of person their children naturally want to trust, respect, and stay connected to.
The goal is becoming the kind of father your children would freely choose if they had the option.
