#worldtuberculosisday Every 3 minutes, 1 child dies from TB. TB is a top 10 killer of children under 5. Yet >50% of childhood TB cases go undiagnosed/unreported. With the SDG 3.3 & WHO End TB Strategy targeting 2030, closing the pediatric diagnostic gap isn’t optional; it’s essential. We can’t end TB if we can’t find it.

#Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the world’s deadliest infectious diseases killing 3500 a day, and is a major driver of poverty, inequality and antimicrobial resistance. At the @UN General Assembly in 2023, world leaders adopted bold new targets to end TB. However, funding cuts make it more difficult to reach those targets. As we approach World TB Day, I call on governments to invest in TB care, accelerate innovation and ensure that TB services are accessible, affordable, stigma‑free and community‑driven. .@WHO is increasing its support to countries impacted by the conflict in the Middle East, releasing US$2 million in emergency funds to support the health responses in #Lebanon, #Iraq and #Syria. These resources are from the WHO Contingency Fund for Emergencies, thanks to the support of donors. The funds will help strengthen emergency coordination, trauma care, disease surveillance and ensure access to essential medicines and medical supplies. As casualties rise, so do attacks on health care, which are increasing the burden on the health systems at a time when they are most needed.
