As my dear friend Don Lemon knows, journalism is one of the most dangerous jobs on earth. Don is boots on the ground, bearing witness, asking hard questions, and risking his safety to hold our government accountable. That is courage. That is journalism. Don was arrested despite a federal judge rejecting prosecutors’ bid to charge him last week. This is outrageous. Journalists face harassment, imprisonment, and death simply for doing their jobs. You don’t need a passport to find this out. Just ask Don Lemon. Energy spent targeting reporters would be far better spent investigating the real issues, like the systemic injustices that brought people into the streets in the first place. Don must be released immediately.
