@FreightAlley I respect the great company you’ve built. It’s few that can understand the ups and downs, good times, bad times and the roller coaster ride of building something great for the world. I know the difficulties through my own experiences. Makes me appreciate your success even more🫡

10 years ago, I quit my job and decided to create the world’s first futures for trucking. Futures didn’t work out, but we created something much more powerful - the most comprehensive information services platform in the freight market. And we are just getting started.

High-agency people seem to have this weird immunity to embarrassment. Getting rejected? Not embarrassing, that’s just data collection. Looking naive? Not embarrassing, that’s just information asymmetry you’re fixing. Breaking minor social rules? Not embarrassing, most rules are just Schelling points anyway. What would be embarrassing to them is not trying. That’s the thing they can’t live with.
Kpaxs@Kpaxs

High-agency people genuinely believe that reality is negotiable in a "there are always more levers to pull" way. It's about having this bone-deep conviction that if you keep poking at something from different angles, eventually something will give.

Easter Sunday in Houston, TX — the church is packed. I attended a catholic elementary school. My parents wanted the best for me. The Catholic church didn’t resonate with me so I stopped attending for many years. When I was 30, I accidentally stumbled on a YouTube video of Joel Osteen. His message spoke to me. I felt like he was directly talking to me through that video. Since then, Joel Osteen’s message and the Christian church have become an integral part of my life and a core foundation for the decisions I make, how I choose to live and the person I want to become. When I started business in 2017, I was grinding very long hours and it often felt like I was making no progress. I asked God to help me. I made a promise that if he helped me find some success I would be a blessing to others and I would use my blessings to help others. In the years that followed God has help me find small wins, and I’ve always tried to keep my promise to share what I have. God continues to open up opportunities in my life. The amazing opportunities haven’t happened overnight, but they only started happening once I started talking to God.

@PaulSpacey Nice effort by the young kid. We learn from our mistakes. He can try opening up his body on the next one. Strike it open foot, right side with power. Needs to be one step closer to ball before striking in my opinion.

A kid who starts kicking a ball at four has thousands of hours by age ten. The kid who starts at nine is still a beginner a year later. That gap never closes.

We spent $15,000 on billboards targeting one person: the guy controlling all the chemical spend at a saltwater disposal company in Texas. We mapped his commute and bought every billboard between his house and the oil field. When we finally called, he said "I see your billboards everywhere." That landed us our first oil field contract. At the time our entire operation was a $10,000 reactor built from PVC pipes from Home Depot, turning corn sugar into industrial chemicals. People keep trying to throw it away. It still works. That leaking reactor started a multibillion-dollar company. @ycombinator visited our plant in Houston. The original PVC reactor is still on the floor next to the Bioforge.

Visionary post by you, sir. This is also our thesis at @shipcargoai. Services and products will be selected by AI agents and AI systems, not humans searching Google. We’re building API/MCP-first so when an AI agent detects a vehicle needs transport, our service is selected based on reliability metrics exposed by our API.

One of the most important questions for founders is: How do I make sure agents know about my product and service and choose it? All the old tricks won’t work. People who figure this out will win big

If it matters to you, go pursue greatness. Don’t be intimidated by the desire to be great in this world. Great financially. Great spiritually. Great mentally and physically. Discipline yourself to become the best version of who you’re capable of being. Not just for yourself, but for the people who love you. If you fall short, remember this: failure is temporary. Get back up, and continue the pursuit of greatness.
