@Jenny_1884 Remember about 40 yrs ago, sister got very ill at a party (she was about 10) and we were away from home, aunt called her GP and he did an emergency house call, who immediately realised she had appendicitis and needed to taken to hospital, guess that would now be an A&E visit?

Who agrees that GPs should be forced to do face to face appointments rather than by phone? It never used to be like this so why are we having to put up with this rubbish system. We pay into the service so we should get proper service. These GPs are not doing their jobs properly. No wonder A&E are busy because you can’t get a GP appointment. Everything in this country is broken

@rec777777 At what point, if you were an owner, would it be more effective to just make do with Airbnb even if not fully booked, but avoid the risks of having poor tenants that you can’t serve notice to and rent controls too?

The Rent Reforms are based on social economics ideology, not actual economics Rent prices are driven by supply and demand. Social housing is heavily taxpayer subsidised We've run out of taxpayer money and most social housing goes to migrants When will they understand?

@M4rtyman @MartinSLewis this will often still work out cheaper than getting the package holiday. Also non packages can give more flexibility on flights too, e.g. if timing is more important than the airport you may fly from one and back to another (obviously not good if parking though)

@darrensharp73 @MartinSLewis People have a tendency to get fixated on the "cheapest possible" deal. When you are spending £1200 quid on a hotel (for example), it's a no brainer to pay an extra £60 to get some decent cover 🤨x.com/M4rtyman/statu…
M4rty 🇪🇺@M4rtyman

@MartinSLewis Don't know why people don't pay that little bit extra for hotel bookings, to guarantee some cover. eg. 11 Mar 27 (14 nights) £1,166 Pay now - no cover £1,227 Pay on arrival - Free cancellation until 48hrs before, £175 fee thereafter. Only £60 extra - complete no brainer 🤨

If flights are cancelled you'd usually be entitled to choose between a refund or alternative flight, but what about the hotel cost? Full info in the Martin Lewis Money Show Travel Special: How to protect yourself & save, watch it on: itv.com/watch/the-mart…

BBC PAID HIM 6X MORE. THE TRIBUNAL SAID THAT WAS ILLEGAL. THE BBC SAID IT WAS COMPLICATED. Samira Ahmed @SamiraAhmedUK presented Newswatch on @BBC for years. Same format. Same length. Same job. Read viewer feedback on camera, wrap it up, go home. Jeremy Vine @theJeremyVine did exactly the same thing on Points of View. She got £440 per episode. He got £3,000. Ahmed spent years trying to fix it quietly through internal BBC processes. The BBC said there was no problem. She filed for tribunal. In January 2020, the tribunal ruled unanimously in her favour. The BBC could not explain the difference. They tried. They argued Vine needed "a glint in the eye" and to be "cheeky." The tribunal said that was not a skill. It was a story the BBC told itself. The total underpayment was close to £700,000. Sarah Montague, another BBC woman, settled separately for around £400,000. The National Union of Journalists flagged around 70 more cases waiting resolution internally. After Ahmed won, 700 BBC women received pay rises. The BBC's statement after losing? They regretted it had gone to tribunal. Not that they paid a woman six times less than a man for the same work for years. Just that it became public. Sources: @guardian, @BBC, @IFJGlobal, Others

@paul_heathcote @UKHospKate @RachelReevesMP In France there is only 10% (for dine-in, excluding alcohol) and apparently massively outperforming the UK, so why not look to them as an example where lower tax can act as a buffer for rising costs

305 hospitality places closed between January and the end of March not sure how many jobs have been lost in the same period @UKHospKate @RachelReevesMP but I see no green shoots of growth without a U-turn on NI, releif on business rates or VAT

Nigel Farage asked on BBC news this morning if he'd debate with me. Says he's too busy with the local elections & it will just be a "big row." I've been asking him for months. Someone's running scared? Vote Green.

Should disruptive passengers face a lifetime ban from flying? Jet2 is calling for a national database for disruptive passengers after a fight broke out on one of their planes. They want yobs to be banned from flying on any British airline. Does that seem fair?

@BBCBreakfast the issue is self service checkouts use a late 70s/early 80s technology with barcodes, they should all be using chips and avoid scanning individual products

@BBCBreakfast if labour and conservative have excluded more people and they have put up a similar number of candidates as Reform in the local elections, then they have a higher proportion with problem candidates, that's why Nigel face looked puzzled

@Adam_Hosker @FinanceTiger yes when i bought my home, with a Santander they did a "drive-by" valuation to approve the loan, so was approved much quicker than if they had physically sent someone out to view it

Did a nice evening run. During April I'm taking part in a @pacerapp work challenge, and I'm currently 2nd, 20k behind first and 35k ahead of 3rd. Not that I'm being competitive, but I'd like to close in on that 1st place (I've been there a few times this month).

@SimonLester2468 Regulators (ie local authorities) wouldn’t allow it even if the PL and Sky did. They wouldn’t give them the license to either allow fans or sell alcoholic drinks,

Just heard that The Premier League and Sky are brining in a new 11pm midweek kick off slot next season. It’s been under review for a while but will begin in August. The TV picks will be released 48 hours prior to kick off times. It’s all about the fans…..👊💦

@AlStewartOBE I wonder if Beth would go to the BBC from Sky given potential changes that will happen if Comcast buys ITV (and would own itv news and Sky News so likely reduce staff)
