Actually that's fair and I didn't consider that the basis here - that your corporate property tax base is set - is wrong because most successful companies make improvements or expansions, so Prop 13 allows for an assessment. Apple has a lot of buildings - is the $8.7M number just for the spaceship or in total? Ether way it is literally NOTHING to them. They probably spend more in landscaping and security.

Prop 13 has always been in the Democrat crosshairs to increase property taxes for long term residents. Tom wants to fuck over California's senior citizens to raise taxes on the most financially vulnerable.

@ChrisMartzWX I could understand a continued tax on property since you are still using roads and supporting schools. But upon full retirement it should be reduced to your federal income tax level, eg in TN I’d pay around 18% of my full bill.

As much as I hate Gavin Newsom, to be totally fair the real problem is the 30 super-majority communists in the State Senate who think that their personal war against "Big Oil" is more important than the citizens of their districts they "represent", and so if there are casualties and discomfort.. well, who cares? It's war, right? They're just doing what they think is ideologically important. Would love to start voting them out, but strangely enough they make laws ensuring their power will not be in jeopardy.
