Without fractional reserve banking we would still be living in the Stone Age and productivity growth (one of the key drivers of wellbeing in an economy) would have been a fraction of what it is today.

I think the people who are well-calibrated about LLMs have ~no idea how many places in society rely on 0-alpha-above-LLM cognition being scarce, and people who control those processes have ~no idea that LLMs can now trivially saturate their bandwidth.
