@sagarikaghose India is not a sovereign nation now. It was nominally earlier. As a journalist, you should read between the lines in the documents our PM & FM signs with the US, EU & Japan. India is effectively a vassal state. BTW, I am a satirist among other things. Have no bad feelings.

The language in this U.S. State Department readout is astonishingly condescending. An American official “underscored” to India’s External Affairs Minister that violations of a U.S. blockade “will not be tolerated.” Since when does Washington issue instructions to a sovereign nation in this tone? India before the @narendramodi regime consistently asserted its strategic autonomy & independent foreign policy. Will @narendramodi now formally protest this language and seek a clarification from @realDonaldTrump when the two meet? No? Why not?
