10 years after I wanted and offered to write and introduce a Critical Literacy curriculum, the UK government deems it essential. 10 years too late!

@anon_opin I think you’ll find that majority of parents of kids in private school went to state school. They worked hard, got good grades and good jobs. Hence they are giving their kids the best they can. Everyone has equal chance to do the same inc you. But let’s do politics of envy.

It's a failing of the UK that we don't have a universally understood derogatory term for people who went to private school, considering the damage they do to our society.

@MarinaGlynn @LawyerYouKnow That’s EXACTLY my point. He KNEW he was pointing the gun at HG. He knew to NEVER point a gun at someone- it’s an on set rule that he was constantly breaking - not just once but throughout the filming. Even loaded with blanks NEVER point the gun at someone. He pointed AND FIRED!

Well well well… involuntary manslaughter charges dismissed. #AlecBaldwin goes home a free man. Regardless of what you think about him - this is the right result. The government needs to be held accountable. They can’t trample on our rights. What does this mean for Hannah Gutierrez-Reed???? Bowles better file a motion.

@LawSelfDefense @StarowNiklas Wooa! You’re a lawyer. You KNOW it does not need to be malicious. Why would you say that? Are you PRETENDING to not understand? I agree that there’s an argument that it was not exculpatory but quit the bullshit pretending to not know WHY it was dismissed.

@BarelyStated @MarinaGlynn @LawyerYouKnow If it’s your garage and the mechanic works for you and you are responsible for everything that happens in your garage and allow a culture of non-compliance. You’re told never to drive a car the wrong way up a one-way-street because it’s dangerous but you do it anyway…

@MarinaGlynn @LawyerYouKnow I think you’re misunderstanding the term ‘accident’. If i drink a bottle of whisky then drive my car, accidentally hitting a child, am I culpable? I didn’t hit them on purpose. I am horrified at what happened and would never hurt a fly. Or am I to blame for my reckless behaviour?

@LawyerYouKnow HONESTLY….. I don’t understand this whole gong show. IT WAS AN ACCIDENT! No one set out to kill someone on a movie set. HOPEFULLY, the movie industry puts in extra precautions so this doesn’t happen again!

@justgarywalker @DoctorTurtleboy But the jurors are not there to find if the McAlberts are guilty or not. All they have to do is decide if they are 100% sure she hit him with the car! And unfortunately the defence didn’t tell them that at closing arguments! Big mistake…

Juror #7 took a deep breath and looked up to the ceiling when Judge Cannone instructed them to go back in and deliberate. Either she's really frustrated with one or more of the other jurors who is holding out with "guilty," or she is the lone guilty vote. She is acting noticeably different from all other jurors who are not showing any emotions.

@Lollipoptwist @DoctorTurtleboy Defence focussed so much on their alternate theory that jurors may be subconsciously doubting the veracity of that as opposed to simply looking at ‘did she hit him.’

@DoctorTurtleboy What can’t they understand??? How hard is it to understand that this case has loads of reasonable doubt?! Call me crazy but I think something is fishy with some of these jurors. The whole world is watching! The whole world sees the truth and they can’t? Come on…

@DoctorTurtleboy The FBI's experts were top notch, highly qualified, people in their fields. That should've been the irrefutable doubt in any jurors mind who was on the fence or swayed towards guilty. I'm truly baffled by this. This is an emotional decision for whoever is holding out.

I think a lot of people don't understand the consequences of replacement. It's not, for many, about hate or superiority in many instances. I'll use a personal example here. I love Japan, in many ways I feel Japan is superior to much of the West. Great, intelligent, and high trust people. Wonderful place to visit, great food, and honestly some of the best people I've met. As a people and nation, they have my full respect. I hold absolutely zero racism towards them. At the same time, I would be wildly upset if suddenly my homeland was flooded with millions of Japanese immigrants. Do I think they would be destructive to civilization? Absolutely not. I just want to live among people with similar cultures and genetics. On the flipside, I believe my day to day life would be improved in many ways if I moved to Japan. I never would though. I would always feel like a stranger and a foreigner. An outsider. One of the things I love about Japan is their homogenous society. I wouldn't aid to it's destruction by trying to swap their demographics. When I go to Japan, I want to be in Japan with the Japanese as a guest. The same as I'd welcome then here. If demographics are shifted everywhere to everyone, why even travel? A nation is not just its geographic borders, a nation is its people. I believe in preserving uniqueness.

If you justify this decision you are an enemy of football. VAR has to go, the laws have to become more lenient on offside. The game is finished as we knew it.

@7uu7aa @Free_Karen_Read No. But it’s a good idea to e.g. begin with “let’s take a look at the evidence for and against whether or not he was killed by being hit with a car.” Once they all have their say, they should conclude he was or was not. Then either an immediate verdict or continue

@Free_Karen_Read Wait. What do you mean "reviewing the evidence"? Are they forced to go though this huge list of evidence? Its up to jury how they do it. The judge can only discourage the initial polling, yet a lot of juries do this anyways and the judge can do nothing about it

No need to worry about there being no verdict yet. Auntie Bev didn't allow them to poll before looking over all of the evidence. Nor do we know if they actually deliberated over lunch. They're likely only halfway through reviewing the evidence. I will start to be concerned there is a hung jury if we do not have a Verdict by 1pm tomorrow. There is no chance she is found guilty. Worst case there is 1 hold out causing them to be hung.
