🚨 Hackers Use Meta’s AI Bot to Reset Passwords and Hijack Instagram Accounts

A critical logic flaw in Meta's AI-powered Instagram support chatbot allowed attackers to bypass two-factor authentication entirely, not by cracking codes, but by simply asking the bot to hand over access.
The attack required no malware, no phishing link, and no access to the victim's email address. Attackers first identified a high-value target account, typically a short-handle "OG" username worth thousands on underground markets, then used a VPN or residential proxy geolocated to the target's region to avoid triggering Instagram's automated fraud detection.

It has been straight exploit after exploit, Meta has given AI so much power to take over any account & claim any possible username
We still have not received any public announcement in regards to these exploits and breaches.

Instagram still hasn't (correctly) patched their AI goop account reset thingy. Accounts are still being stolen and Instagram hasn't said anything about it. Nerds continue to find ways to convince AI to reset accounts for them. People on social media are freaking out because some of these profiles apparently are big sources of revenue for them. Meanwhile, rumors are floating around that a few weeks ago Instagram laid off a large percentage of their Trust & Safety department and had it replaced with AI. Very cool

The bot complied.
Meta had rolled out AI support with account recovery powers to all users in March, billing it as "solutions, not just suggestions."

Earlier today, a massive vulnerability in Meta’s AI support assistant reportedly allowed attackers to take over Instagram accounts.
The flow was absurdly simple:
> use a VPN matching the victim’s country
> click reset password and request additional support
> tell Meta’s AI support assistant to change the account email to yours

Hackers say they hijacked tons of high-profile Instagram accounts by tricking Meta AI support chatbot into granting access
• They simply asked the AI to change the email associated to the account after using a VPN to spoof the page's location
• Accounts associated with Obama and the U.S. Government were included in the hack
• Meta claims the issue has been resolved
