Rwanda National Association of Deaf Women (RNADW)@RwandaDeafwomen
Together, let's ensure Rwandan Sign Language opens every door to rights!
Deaf adolescent girls and young women in Rwanda have so much to contribute — and when we make sign language fully accessible, we unlock their access to essential SRHR services.
A gentle reminder of what stands in the way — so we can remove it together:
Ableism: The outdated idea that typical abilities are "better" — when in truth, every body and every mind brings unique strengths.
Audism: The preference for spoken language over sign — overlooking the beauty and power of Deaf communication and culture.
Our September 2025 Policy Brief is an open invitation full of practical ideas we can explore and implement together:
1. Transform health centres into welcoming, truly inclusive spaces for everyone.
2. Shine a light on Deaf AGYW experiences so no one stays unseen.
3. Place Deaf adolescent girls and young women's voices at the heart of decisions that affect them!
Sign language is a beautiful bridge to human rights — and when we build it together, no one is left behind.
