@NewsHour This just means that young men will not have to go to the Post Office to sign up when they turn 18 anymore. The anti-Trump leftwing press is trying to make people think it is more than it is.

Starting in December, all men aged 18-to-25 will be automatically registered for the military draft. They’ll be added to the Selective Service System, an independent government agency that keeps a list of all eligible Americans. For decades, the majority of men would register themselves, or face a felony. Congress tucked the rule change into a bipartisan defense bill that President Donald Trump signed into law in late 2025. It comes as enrollment has slipped in recent years, even as worries about conflicts with nations like China and Russia have grown. There has not been a military draft since the Vietnam War.

@NewsHour Why didn't he go home as soon as he reached adulthood and begin the process of becoming a legal citizen? Also, my parents wanted the best for me. They could have robbed a bank and given me the money instead of my having to work my way through college but they are not criminals.

During this Trump administration, ICE has detained more than 260 people protected under Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, and more than 80 of them have been deported. While DACA recipients can be removed for reasons, such as criminal convictions, advocates say some with no criminal record are being swept up in the broader crackdown. @LisaDNews has more.
