@herrmann1001 @evildaemond > Not sure how to make it to a hacker conference in New Zealand… It‘s very similar, it just sounds like all the vowels have been replaced with i & u Try searching for “hickir cunfirunce” instead 😉 Or try kawaiicon.org @kawaiiconNZ

CrikeyCon was fun, hanging out in the PAC's / Lockpicking village with @evildaemond and NVX, get to tear some picopass and getting a better understanding. Got to meet Australian hackers, I loved them. 🙏 Got to have beers with said hackers. Just awesome, the weather in Brissy was just like I want it. 100% would go back. Downsides ? 13 hour flights, not counting airport time, Australia is far away. Not sure how to make it to a hacker conference in New Zealand.... Iceman out , love you all!

🚨 Applications for Character Labs G6 are due in 3 weeks!! The program for this group will be radically different from before, and we think it's going to be much more effective. Can't wait to run it down live with the next group of founders! 👉 If you're at inception/idea stage and interested in working with us, please take a look at character.vc/labs and let me know if you have any questions! Here's what's changing for G6, and why: 1. All-new Sales Sprint and Marketing Sprints. Many founders in our portfolio are now finding and signing customers in weeks, not months — often well before they have a "finished" product ready to sell. We reverse-engineered their techniques and designed new sprints to help every founder start selling uncomfortably fast. 2. All-new Pitch Sprint. Founders in our portfolio have raised from a16z, First Round, Index, Obvious, Bessemer, General Catalyst, and other elite investors. We completely revamped our Pitch Sprint to capture the most important lessons from the founders who've had the most success in fundraising. 3. Demo Day! The biggest change EVER to Character Labs. For the first six groups, we provided bespoke support to each team as they were ready to raise, thinking it was a better experience. I think we were wrong on this one — by encouraging founders to raise at the same time, we can help them more AND provide a better experience to investors (who can meet 15 great founders in one place instead of being inundated by emails from us). Caveat: Our first-ever demo day (for G5) is in a couple of weeks, so we reserve the right to be wrong again and change course :) 👇 Bottom line, we are incredibly excited about these changes and think G6 will be the best ever. But more than that — we are just so eager to meet and work with this next group of founders. Because Character Labs is a special program. Biased of course, but I really think that's true. We believe it's the best way to get started and build momentum in the early days of founding of a startup. If this resonates, we'd love to meet you. Let's talk. If not for Labs, maybe we find another way to work together. If not for G6, maybe another time. But please, check out what's new in the comments, head over to character.vc/labs, and get in touch if you are interested in working together!

🚨 Back by popular demand: Character Foundations, our one-day masterclass for founders! Applications are now open for our next event on March 26 in SF. Come spend the day with @jakek, @eliblee, and me! Learn our unique approach to product design, meet other founders, and participate in real conversations about building startups today. Last year, we launched Character Foundations on a simple premise: in the age of AI, product, design, and marketing matter more than ever. Today, that's 10x true. For many teams working in AI, coding and shipping are no longer a significant bottleneck. They can build and launch faster than they ever imagined. But so can every other team. As a result, what matters most today is: 1. Product — Am I building something that meaningfully solves an important problem for customers? 2. Marketing — Can I cut through the noise and stand out in a market where everybody is building and shipping fast? But there's something else important going on in AI... The capability of software has expanded dramatically. Today you can do things with software that you simply could not five years ago: discover drugs, design chemicals, invent materials, analyze research, automate filings, close deals, etc etc. For teams building here — what we call "frontiers of the software-addressable economy" — there is an even greater set of challenges, because there is simply no playbook for how to build a software company like this. - How do you sell software products to a company that doesn't buy software? - How do you build trust in your product, when it's doing a job that's done by experienced human experts? - How do you go full-stack and sell outcomes, not just software? To be clear: We don't have easy answers for these questions. Nobody does. We don't believe in playbooks and cheatsheets that tell founders WHAT to do. Instead — Character Foundations is all about HOW to answer these questions. We've used our Design Sprint and Foundation Sprint to help 300+ teams navigate the intense unknowns of building new products and businesses today. We're on the court with founders every day, using these methods to give our portfolio companies at @CharacterVC the greatest possible chance of success. We want to share the Design Sprint and Foundation Sprint with more founders. So, for the first time ever, we created an opportunity for founders to sprint with us without raising money from Character. Character Foundations is free and equity-free: There are no fees to attend, and we take 0% of your company. You just need to apply. We love doing this work with founders. And Character Foundations has become one of the truly peak moments of our work together at Character. You can read more and apply at character.vc/foundations — and if you have questions, please reply and I'll drop in to answer it. Thanks!!
