My Chetan Bhagat Confession 15 years ago, a friend took me to a book shop, after a lazy lunch, and practically coerced me into buying a Chetan Bhagat book. He accused me of having a snobbish, almost elitist mental block against Mr Bhagat's writing, and shamed me into giving it a chance. I managed to wade through some 30 pages. It was tough going. What astonished me was not the quality of the writing but why my friend thought it was good. Later, I bought a 7-in-1 collection of Chetan Bhagat novels on Kindle. I dipped into them randomly to study the style. To try and distill the formula that made him such a success. I genuinely felt that Mr Bhagat was a marketing genius. He had correctly gauged that there were millions of people in India who had a smattering of English, mostly from using it in their workplace, and they wanted to read something that was written in the language they spoke. It was the lowest common denominator language, as if written in corporatese - the lingua franca produced by MBAs. He had filled a gap that no other English-language writer was willing to fill - because it would have been beneath them. It required a thick skin and loads of courage. I am not Mr Bhagat's target reader, but there are millions in India who needed him. I honestly admire him for that.

Unpopular Opinion: Most men and women in salons working as hair dressers are just stylists. They dont know how to really cut hair depending on face structure, hair type and densities. Uber wont care as they are getting what they are supposed to get ad per the app. They didn’t curb it in time and now it has become the monster it is. Cab drivers built upon initial success of this model and now they are united and consolidated. Only way is to shut down the cab service but again it is counterproductive. Only measure is citizen action on errant drivers. @Ube_India has no guts.

Officially done with using cabs in Pune. They accept the ride, show up, and then demand to charge "as per meter." I really wonder if @Uber_India support realizes that drivers are pocketing 100% of that excess amount above the estimated fare while they get zero share of it? Completely broken system.

धायरी, पुणे येथील आबासाहेब नगर गल्ली स नं ८/३२ व ८/३३, रामकृष्ण बंगला, बेनकर नगर या भागात अंतर्गत रस्त्याच्या बाजूने तरुणांची टोळकी थांबलेली असतात. तेथे सार्वजनिक ठिकाणी थांबून दारू पिणे आणि येणाऱ्या-जाणाऱ्या नागरिकांना दमदाटी करणे अशा पद्धतीने दहशत निर्माण करण्याचा प्रयत्न करतात. यामुळे परिसरातील नागरिकांमध्ये भीतीचे वातावरण निर्माण झाले आहे. रात्रीच्या वेळी नागरिकांना त्या परिसरातून ये-जा करताना मोठा त्रास सहन करावा लागतो. याशिवाय धायरी गावात मागील काही महिन्यांपासून चोरी, महिलांची छेडछाड, टिंगल-टवाळी तसेच गुन्हेगारी स्वरूपाचे प्रकार सातत्याने घडत आहेत. धायरी गावातील गल्ल्या, चौक आणि रस्त्याच्या बाजूला तसेच विविध सोसायट्यांच्या पार्किंग परिसरामध्ये रात्री उशिरापर्यंत तरुणांची टोळकी थांबलेली असतात. ही टोळकी महिलांची छेड काढतात त्यामुळे महिलांना भरदिवसा तसेच रात्रीच्या वेळी घराबाहेर पडणे देखील मुश्कील झाले आहे. एवढेच नाही तर ही टोळकी सार्वजनिक ठिकाणी दारू पितात त्यामुळे परिसरात मोठ्या प्रमाणात दारूच्या बाटल्यांचा खच पडलेला असतो. परिणामी सार्वजनिक स्वच्छता व कायदा-सुव्यवस्थेचा प्रश्न निर्माण झाला आहे. नमूद करण्याची बाब म्हणजे धायरी भागात पोलिसांची गस्त व पेट्रोलिंग अत्यंत अपुऱ्या स्वरुपाची आहे त्यामुळे अशा गुन्हेगारी प्रवृत्तीच्या टोळक्यांचे उपद्व्याप वाढले आहेत असे नागरीकांचे म्हणणे आहे. थोड्याफार फरकाने हे प्रकार शहर आणि परिसरात सर्वत्र आढळून येत असून नागरीक भीतीच्या छायेखाली जगत आहेत. कायदा सुव्यवस्थेच्या दृष्टीने या बाबी अतिशय गंभीर आहेत. माझी राज्याच्या गृहमंत्री महोदयांना विनंती आहे की त्यांनी कृपया पुण्याच्या पोलीस आयुक्तांना शहरात कायदा सुव्यवस्था अबाधित राखण्यासाठी आवश्यक त्या उपाययोजना करण्याचे आदेश द्यावेत. @Dev_Fadnavis @PuneCityPolice

Experienced what many Indians would be going through totally unaware(probably) - a blatant cheating by quick commerce companies. This time the crown belongs to @Swiggy @SwiggyCares . I have take their one black membership which has on time delivery plus no surge fee mentioned on its page. Tried ordering something today of value 157, it mentions surge fee. When i double the quantity, the surge fee magically gone. Their TNC says no surge fee above 399- however, here it doesn’t even meet their own criterion. It also mentions there will be surge frees in case of extremely high demand- a total subjective scenario which no one can verify- if swiggy says it is extremely high demand scenario, you have to believe it. Why these guys time and again indulge in shady practices? #customerservice @jagograhakjago

Over this, the support is good for nothing- quick commerce needs instant resolutions- this bugger asks me to send a mail for which they will revert within 48 hours. I think it is time the cycle reverses and these guys have to shut shop. Increasingly, we are paying high price for the convenience in terms of money, frustration, time chasing such companies for issues, delivery guys not receiving phones. All this taking advantage of our reduce attention span and no attention to details. Imagine this scam at a scale.
