Glad to see a statewide right to counsel for evictions in this plan. Nationally, more than 80% of landlords are represented by a lawyer, compared to just 3% of renters. This is about keeping people in their homes, economic & racial justice, & ensuring a fairer judicial system.

In 1959 NYC tried to use urban renewal to displace residents in Cooper Square. A motley crew of working class residents showed up to protect their community from being displaced in favor of wealthier residents. If this sounds familiar it’s because this is still our fight today 🧵
