After years of complaining about cancel culture, the current administration has taken it to a new and dangerous level by routinely threatening regulatory action against media companies unless they muzzle or fire reporters and commentators it doesn’t like. yahoo.com/news/articles/…

@DenisJeliazkov Yeah this one has always confused me when some people say it's "easier to read" dark mode text. Like visually you can like the look of dark mode more, but it just objectively DOES increase eye strain and is harder on your eyes to read light text on a dark background.

Here's an unexpected fact: Studies show dark text on light backgrounds is 26% more readable. The Nielsen Norman Group found reading speed decreases by nearly 10% with white text on black. Yet every designer acts like dark mode is the holy grail of UX.

I'm obsessed with design psychology. After 10 years of building products, I've discovered a UI/UX secret: Dark Mode makes apps harder to use. Here's why we're all getting Dark Mode wrong, how to use it properly, and what @Apple knew all along:

@thejobchick "Pushed out over performance" is such a broad nonsense "policy". I'm sure large swaths of people in that category were given the pip-to-firing layoff bs that so many companies do as a way to sneakily fire people and say it's for "performance".

WHOA. Yes- Microsoft laid off 6,000 people BUT... they dropped a pretty brutal new policy overhaul: -2-year rehire ban for anyone pushed out over performance -A new “good attrition” metric (yes, they track if they’re happy you’re gone) PLUS... you have 5 days to choose: – 16 weeks severance – or a performance plan with no severance if you fail Honestly this mirrors Amazon’s “unregretted attrition” model... and is kicking off a new era of ruthless performance management in Big Tech. Welcome to 2025.

@Rainmaker1973 While comical, genuinely my favorite thing about language is the fact that it DOES continue to change and evolve. It would be boring if it all stayed the same. I fully support younger generations coming up with new words and slang, I think it's great!

@marlene4719 As always, every person commenting something like "they're consenting adults" - you're outing yourselves. You morons just can't help but to comment every time big age gaps come up. This is DISGUSTING, and you know it.

@HighyieldHarry This type of nonsensical thinking is just a version of the "money doesn't buy you happiness" LIE. It 100% does. 350k/yr is SO massively more enjoyable than 120k/yr it's night and fuckin day.

@TheOnlyEsta I'd definitely be a fan of this, but unfortunately there's still a big, sexist portion of America with both Clinton and Harris losing to Trump.

@jtimsuggs The Acolyte had some of THE coolest battles and lightsaber-related things of the entire franchise. And this all further shows how sexist and racist so many “fan” negative comments there were about this show. It’s ridiculous. It was a GREAT show

Still thinking about how insane this move was. The Acolyte is still nothing short of peak Star Wars and ABSOLUTELY deserves a second season.

@ashtonpittman The efforts of conservatives to paint Hillary as "everyone hates her" was INSANELY successful, to the degree where middle of the road voters, and probably even some liberal men believed the bullshit. Hillary and Kamala would have been GREAT presidents. It's an utter shame.

Just would like to point out that an incredibly "likable" woman ran this time, and it's still really close with that awful, unintelligent monster of a man. It was never about Hillary's "likability." A lot of people just prefer hateful, ignorant men over smart women.

@TAEGlJlNS Religion and "traditional values" are very strong among Hispanic voters, and unfortunately that means a LOT of them vote for Trump, even though he's actively racist against them. It's really crazy to vote SO against your own interests, but here we are I guess.

@atrupar If you genuinely are "undecided" with where politics are at now, you are just a piece of shit, and I kind of respect you LESS than even a proud Trump supporter. There is no grey area, either you support sexism, racism, no bodily autonomy, or you don't.
