Day 62/90 Building the ultimate starter template! I don't want toot my own horn, but holy F**K! As I use the launchapp template I am seeing, that I built something very powerful! I built the image generator app, in less than 8 hours worth of work started on it yesterday 1pm...its live with the features running.... users can sign up, just can't pay for a plan 😂 and you get 5 free credits to use on any model! Only, thing left is to setup the stripe store, quick thing I will do tomorrow, was a bit busy with family today!

Can't judge if it was the right decision as I wasn't the team. But as we know most startups fail What I can say though its becoming clear that for any codegen company to survive they must own their own models. Kimi is making this easier than ever, even I started fine-tuning/distilling as a hobby right now. But the future is bright

Varun Mohan and the team at Windsurf built something great. What I heard is every founding engineer (over 40 of them) cleared 7 figures. The remaining org of 200 was only 15 engineers who had worked there less than a year, the rest were sales and ops, and even then they left more cash in the business that could have made everyone more than whole if the remaining team was willing to dividend it and shut down. Varun preserved $2.3B in value for the investors and vested cap table and did his best under time pressure with the options he had. He and his team don’t deserve to be dragged and I think in the long term their decision to sell will be vindicated. It can be irresistible to fan the flames on Internet beef but in this case everyone should stand down given what really happened.

Anyone here using react-native-web with their web apps? I have a mobile app built with react-native and debating if I should combine the UI libraries. Right now I have the same components in both locations

Sometimes you just need a recharge...was a bit slow the last few days. But feeling much better, after some rest back in the build mode

@_mctrinh One that pays $1000+ the less users the easier it is to scale as you are only targeting a few vs many

@SeifBassam I started incorporating exercise, for me its swimming, not jogging/weight liffting etc.... Too burnt out means its time to go do fun things that I enjoy, but they have to be away from a screen.

couldn't find a good CLI for kimi and openrouter so built my first iteration. I might open source if anyone else is trying to use kimi

@AwadbVincent you can use SSE endpoints as well, doesn't have to be npx or python. You can also do other languages like rust if you really wanted to, the tooling exists now

Is the current MCP server still mainly a carnival for developers? For example, generally MCP servers require users to install npx or python. Do all users need to know js or python first?

@M_Maloof_ If a single, post is giving a way propiertry information then what you are building isn’t proprietary at all. Also the whole premise of building has nothing to with open sourcing or giving away proprietary info

@M_Maloof_ Respectfully, I disagree why does building have to be about grand ideas? Literally met some of the coolest people building in public and sharing my work. I’m not even building a traditional product in the sense, but I try to share my progress and useful tips

exactly for business owners it doesn't make sense, I think this going to be a hard pill to swallow for everyone thinking they will have a job till they retire. Hiring more devs before never meant a large increase in velocity. I think this is even more true now, as an extra developer can actually slow you down drastically

@the_one_coder It’s the cold truth. Thinking as a business owner will help people see the reality The same job that took 5-10 devs can be achieved with 1-3 great devs + AI so why will I spend money hiring 5-10 people

harsh reality, most engineers/people have no clue most of the jobs will be lost to ai. They are so blind to the truth

I think react-native is more than sufficient for 90% of applications. I do know how to write native code, both Swift/Kotlin. But I use these only on special case where OSS hasn't caught up yet. Though if you have 0 plans of going to android I would learn swift. And future apps, could be swift, but if your current app is react-native I don't think you will see that much value from switching it

Should I be learning SwiftUI or is react native enough for me to build good apps?

@monkscript For me it’s based on client, and the branding guidelines. For personal projects I stick with intern as well but now I’m debating on this after testing different fronts on client sites

No it’s not, it’s crappy framework stuff. Use other frameworks and you will see you will need client only components way less. Literally I see the nextjs bugs on most sites. Most people “use client” for the component that determines if you are logged in or if sign up/in you should show up. And it happens on client side, the check not the server. Literally simplest example to show how stupid “use client” is on next

I’m still growing the list but here is some I’m always looking for: - emails don’t expose user text input without security checks and max length. (learnt this the hard way, someone spammed a bunch of email using my wait list) - sql queries are always using proper escaping. - for areas user input can show up to other users no script injection risks - row level and endpoint level security for APIs
