@kyle__kimbrell maybe. was thinking about the two way interaction between writer and reader. action, and to what extent it is inspired, and how it is perceived as inspired maybe a little different. not sure...

@DavidDeutschOxf Why delete your original post? Why not repost your original post with the above text? This would have the dual benefit of (i) providing the reader context re somewhat esoteric subject matter and (ii) highlighting the fallibility of ChatGPT.

I see now that I was mistaken about Priestley's attitude to English grammar. and have deleted my post The quote I saw about it seems to have been a hallucination by ChatGPT! He was AGAINST Latinisation of English. I now guess that people thought he had prescriptivist opinions because he said some ways of speaking were objectively better than others. Thereby he was, quite rightly, not a doctrinaire 'descriptivist' (cultural relativist). See eprints.whiterose.ac.uk/id/eprint/8194… Also, he didn't exactly "condone" the murder of Lavoisier. He just never condemned it, and continued to support the French Revolution.

@prestonjbyrne @ParvizMalakouti @_TomHoward hey @prestonjbyrne keep up the good fight re 4 Chan and may the hamsters be well fed. thought you'd be interested re pending High Court challenge to Australia's social media ban: x.com/johnruddick2/s…
John Ruddick MLC - Libertarian@JohnRuddick2

🚨 ANNOUNCING A HIGH COURT CHALLENGE TO THE CONSTITUTIONALITY OF THE UNDER 16S SOCIAL MEDIA BAN. One month from today (i.e. 10 December 2025) the Commonwealth Government's Online Safety Amendment (Social Media Minimum Age) Bill 2024 will come into effect. The E-Safety Commissioner successfully lobbied the government to pass this bill in order to strengthen their oversight of the internet. They crave control of your information sources. The guts of the matter is that to have a social media account in Australia from 10 December you will need to prove to the social media platform you are over 16. That's going to be a hassle for social media users and a huge administrative burden for the social media platforms ... who are being threatened with a $53M daily fine for breeches. Lots of bright young kids who are curious about science or history or whatever ... learn so much from social media. Lots of people choose to have an anonymous social media account. That is entirely understandable for many including employees who want to speak freely online but may fear their boss won't agree with their views. To prove you are over 16 you can upload ID but then the E-Safety Commissioner can track what websites you visit to double check you really are over 16. The government however will make it easier for you ... if you just sign up for Digital ID ... and that is the whole purpose of the legislation. I have just left the Inaugural General Meeting of the Digital Freedom Project (DFP). The DFG's purpose is to: (A) raise public awareness about this East German style intrusion by the state into our private lives. (B) launch a High Court challenge that argues the law is unconstitutional as it is a violation of the long-accepted 'implied constitutional freedom of political communication.' I was elected President of the Digital Freedom Project. To learn more please visit our website - digitalfreedomproject.org.au Please also consider signing up as a member (no fee required). The legal team advises we will be filing with the High Court imminently. @elonmusk

I will be publishing the full text of the GRANITE Act, the draft law that would penalize foreign censors by allowing US targets of that censorship to sue them and seize their U.S. based assets, shortly. Link will be the next post in this thread.
