Net migration to the USA is negative for the first time in a century. Meaning, more people are moving out than are moving in. 89% said they're leaving the US for political reasons. Our country is imploding, and it is entirely the fault of the morons who voted for Donald Trump. cnbc.com/2026/05/17/ame…

Hopeful news for downtown residents and commuters! Ohio and Ontario St. feeder ramps are set to fully reopen TOMORROW after about a year and a half of work/lane closures. We’re not there JUST yet, though… IDOT says there will be some concrete pavement patching over the summer, which will require a full closure over three weekends, alternating between Ohio and Ontario between the Kennedy and Orleans St. No dates have been announced. @WGNMorningNews @WGNNews

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson’s personal security detail consists of active Chicago Police Department officers assigned to protect him and his family. Meanwhile, Mayor Brandon Johnson has made comments on public safety such as: “Law enforcement is a sickness” and “We can’t arrest our way to safety.” Chicago taxpayers are paying between $30 million and $33.7 million per year for city security operations tied to protecting the mayor and maintaining public safety infrastructure. Chicago cannot afford to keep playing Russian roulette with leadership that residents believe is failing on crime, safety, and accountability. A preacher’s kid, former teacher, CTU union labor organizer, and political figure from Elgin should not continue leading Chicago while residents feel less safe in their own neighborhoods. I tell my husband, Mayor Brandon Johnson has the ability to be a good leader but he deliberately chooses not to & I don’t get it. My husband replies, he needs the chaos, without the chaos, he has no power or spotlight. That’s sad

@ChicagosMayor There were multiple mass shootings that thankfully resulted in no deaths, but could have easily resulted in dozens!

Republicans need to stop capitalizing on pain and fear to distract from their failing economy and the consequences of their forever wars. People want real solutions that make their lives safer and more affordable. Here in Chicago, we’re focused on investing in our youth and strengthening our communities. While there is still more work to do, we are encouraged by a Memorial Day weekend that saw zero homicides. We are grateful to the first responders, CVI workers, and our community leaders whose work continues to help make our neighborhoods safer.

Chicago recorded zero homicides over the long Memorial Day weekend. It’s the first time since 2010. MAGA definitely won’t like this.

Can't go to the beach North, Can't go to the beaches South, Can't go downtown, cannot even drive your car around Chicago without fear of being caught in a street takeover. This is #ChicagosMayor Chicago. Until parents are held accountable for the actions of their children and criminals are held accountable, this will continue to be the new norm here in #Chicago

NEW: In the wake of this weekend's near-deadly teen takeover - 2nd Ward Ald. Brian Hopkins says City Council members are planning to draft an ordinance that would take a law already on the books - Sec 8-16-125 of Municipal Code - a misdemeanor offense called "Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor" - and apply it to parent's with teen's who are arrested in illegal teen gatherings. Mayor Brandon Johnson visits Peaches in Bronzeville ahead of his Vatican trip. Says he wants to discuss his executive orders, affordability, their opposition to “endless illegal wars” and … “The Pope believes like I believe that the Bears belong in Chicago.”

Unauthorized large gatherings can quickly become dangerous, and early this morning, after curfew hours, we saw that firsthand. I am grateful to the officers who responded diligently to help keep people safe and relieved that the officers who were injured are in fair condition. I continue to call on parents and guardians to know where their children are and to help ensure they are safe and accounted for. There also must be accountability for the individuals who participated in the violent and reckless behavior. My administration is creating opportunities and safe spaces for young people, but families, communities, and city leaders all have a role to play in keeping our young people safe.

FIFA is panicking: World Cup hotel cancellations are surging as global fans ditch the U.S., citing soaring costs, visa bonds, and Trump’s dictatorial behavior. Turns out nobody wants to pay $1,000 a night just to experience an authoritarian simulation.

As a lifelong, avid @Giants fan, I am beyond disappointed & flat out angry @JaxsonDart has chosen to align himself with an unhinged, racist, criminal, lunatic destroying our democracy. How is this going to go over with his teammates? This is a terrible look for the org.
