@jdegoes The instructor decided to swap only the leaders, placing the top crew’s leader in charge of the worst team and the worst crew’s leader in charge of the best. Almost immediately, the formerly worst crew began winning while the previously best crew slipped.

@jdegoes I just finished the book Extreme Ownership. One of the best stories was Navy SEAL instructors noticed one boat crew that won every race while another consistently finished last. The leader of the losing crew complained about his sub par teammates.

I was once made manager and told I would be responsible for the success of the unit. "I need to make some changes," I said, after understanding the dysfunction. "No, we need you to do it with this team." I quit, because you can't be held responsible without having authority.

@ChiefScientist @propensive It bothers me too. However, when it comes to this open letter, Brian Clapper/Travis Brown appear to be the public face/mastermind of it, respectively. But most of the online ire is directed towards the Scala Center. I want to make sure I am frustrated with the right people.

@TomekGodzik @fbrasisil @rolandkuhn This Open Scala Letter is troubling. If there are moderators who are still signatories, they lack the judgment to be in that position. I love Scala, but I hate what is going on. That GitHub repo needs to go.

@fbrasisil @ullah_david @rolandkuhn I am not going to comment any of that anymore. I answered your questions as best as I could. At this point your a nitpicking a the exact words I use, which is not a way to a constructive discussion.

Just a reminder that if you have questions about how Scala moderation works, feel free to reach out to us. While we can't discuss specific moderation actions (those are confidential), we're happy to explain publicly available policies and general processes.

Tomasz, you can’t genuinely apologize for someone else’s thoughts. I’ve noticed this kind of alienating apology is common with Scala moderators. It’s not professional and reinforces the perception of lack of accountability. If the Scala Center director is helping with the replies, make sure to use the opportunity to ask about the policies for use of discriminatory language to exclude people and if retaliation for reporting on CoC issues is appropriate 😉

Couldn't agree more with Linus here. Making your code running as fast as possible (or just faster than someone's else code) is the best feeling you can get from programming The issue that it is extremely hard to find the project that will pay you for instruction level efficiency

@cal_fern @matej_cerny I made some founders rich by turning around their startup by rewriting their terrible, outdated Scala code to a Scala3 FP work of art with a small tiger team. Startup sells to new owners. New owners have a boatload of foreign C# contractors.

@propensive There are three types of apologies: 1. I am sorry [that happened]/[you feel that way] 2. I am sorry I got caught 3. I am sorry I caused what I did That email from @djspiewak was some highbrow #2 and clear denial of any #3.

When two women accused me of a pattern of sexual harassment it was presented as another #metoo case, and tagged #believewomen. But believing women means believing those who dissent, too. In fact, four women said #meneither but nobody listened. Evidence: pretty.direct/women

The Scala Open Letter people have stopped merging retraction PRs: github.com/scala-open-let… At what point can we say that they are wilfully misrepresenting the community support behind that letter?

For the first time ever, an Amtrak NextGen Acela train just pulled up to Union Station. It had left Boston at 6 AM this morning, taking roughly 7 hours to make the entire trip.

@propensive You wrote - “There is a possibility that the Open Letter repository and website will be removed” When you say there is a ‘possibility’ do you mean as a theoretical chance, or are there are active dialogs being taken to remove it? Retraction PR merges have stopped.

In the publications that got me cancelled, I was accused of "harassing" my ex-girlfriend after our twenty-month relationship ended. In fact, I sent her three kind emails, a few DMs, and liked one of her tweets. She even thanked me for one email. Evidence: pretty.direct/harassment

@Nonna0541634951 @mo_free_nig @LipBuTan1 @intel Trump is using President Biden’s CHIPS Act to purchase Intel stock. When did the U.S. ever buy stock in a private company in modern history. If competition drives innovation, then propping up a stock price by government buying stock is the complete opposite.

Just met with President Trump to announce a historic agreement: the U.S. government is investing $8.9B in @Intel to boost American semiconductor leadership. I’m excited about the work ahead to ensure the most advanced silicon technology and computing products of the future are designed and built right here in the USA. Thank you @potus and @howardlutnick for the confidence you have in Intel to deliver for our country.

@gummibear737 There is authenticity of persona and authenticity of character. I see Trump vs. Romney as examples of people who are high in one but deficient in the other. You think Vance lacks both?

There’s nothing authentic about him He plays everybody as his best friend, which is why he was so effective against the MSM And I will admit, I praised him for being so effective But if you see him long enough, you will start to see that none of it is authentic…that’s my take

Mormons aren't Christians. They are retards. Went through and took some time to go back through the book of mormon today. If ANY of you believe this shit you are fucking retarded. I don't even believe it's possible for people to take this seriously. There are ulterior motives.
