@RealDarylJames@hvworlton@Primary_Pianist I think the basic doctrine is the same but you're right, the Book of Mormon doesn't mention everything we practice in the church today. I don't think anyone said it did.
One of the stranger claims I see online is that “Mormons don’t know their own doctrine.”
As someone who has spent decades in the Church, I find that accusation difficult to take seriously.
🧵
@abby_palmer1@Other_Sheep_ This judgement at death is not the final judgement. And baptism is absolutely required for those who desire the highest heaven
@Other_Sheep_ When you die you are judged. There is no scriptural context for baptizing for the dead. And baptizim is not a requirement of salvation. You can accept Christ's gift of salvation not be baptized and still will be in heaven.
Why would Christ preach to those who are dead if they don’t have the opportunity to accept him after this life?
And if they do, do they not need baptism?
And if they do need baptism how do they get baptized after they died?
@hvworlton@Primary_Pianist The Book of Mormon does not include the distinction between salvation and exaltation, three degrees of glory, premortal existence, proxy work for the dead, temple marriage, or other basic components of the plan of salvation, as the doctrine currently exists in the church.
@uptimecontinuum@dojphofficial Based on who, joseph smith?
Mormonism doesn’t stand without joseph smith, period!
Christianity stands with Christ, always!
1/ It shoukd be offensive to ANY Christian, the @dojphofficial conceded by adding @LDSchurch to a list of “Christian” religions…
Mormons may be good people but they are not Christian…
Let’s explore why below 👇🧵
@RealOrdCatholic@dojphofficial Time to go to church and partake of the sacrament in remembrance of the Lord's body and blood. How 'bout you? Do you go every week too?
@uptimecontinuum@dojphofficial Yep, but it goes back to the central question which got all this debate going in the first place
Is mormonism Christian?
The answer to that is NO
Joseph smith does not get to redefine God, Christ or the Church
You feel strongly about your faith, great…it’s just not Christian
@j_divis You mean things like how it mentions atonement 39 times while the NT mentions it once? Or how it emphasis God's mercy and power of deliverance? Or how it testifies of the goodness of Jesus throughout?
18/ Full-circle: Mormonism may borrow Christian language. It may use Christian symbols. It may speak constantly about Jesus.
But Christianity is defined by who God is.
And on that question, mormonism and Christianity give fundamentally different answers. @dojphofficial
Joseph Smith did not ask, “Is there a true church on the earth.”
He asked, “Which church should he join.”
Going into the grove he assumed at least one had to be true. He wanted to find it and join it.
What a powerful insight from Truman Madsen.
The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is objectively true. It’s so true that everyone’s dead ancestors are all being taught the gospel of Jesus Christ by dead members of the church.
Keep that in mind the next time you argue with a Christian.

@uptimecontinuum@DontBotherIt65@MattTestifize You can call it whatever you’d like, but you don’t get to redefine the Trinity…it’s already defined!
Just as you can use the name Jesus Christ in your title, it still doesn’t make your religion Christian…
At least this guy accidentally conceded mormonism is not Christian!
@uptimecontinuum@RealOrdCatholic@MattTestifize Thats 3 gods. And the father god has his own god, who has his own god, who has his own god...
You reject the Trinity to try to insert the Trinity. Weird.
@uptimecontinuum@RealOrdCatholic@MattTestifize So your "heavenly father" did have a body and is a created being thus had his own god who was also a created being ad infinitum.
You believe in an infinite regression of gods. A direct violation of the first commandment. Or is that a corrupted verse?
