Americans would put up with a little bit of pain if there was a reason for it. But the admin has yet to figure out a way to justify the strikes to the public. If it were quick with minimal casualties and no economic damage, Americans would've shrugged their shoulders and moved on.
But any kind of pain with no clear reason is obviously unpopular. Trump is at least smart enough to try to go to an off-ramp.

I've seen a several accounts posting takes like this, and I don't get it. Identifying one's enemies, and how they conspire against you doesn't make someone a “loser.” It provides a rallying cry for taking action. What benefit is there to downplaying what's happening?
