Post

today marks exactly 20 years since the first ever tweet was posted.
Jack Dorsey typed "just setting up my twttr" on March 21 2006.
he had no idea he was about to change how the entire world communicates.
20 years later billions of people are on this platform.
and YOU are here building something on the same day it all started.
that's not a coincidence. that's a sign.
keep going. 🤍

That’s why there’s 100’s of openings at @Square and no applicants that qualify for it. The requirements need to be standardized to fit the lifestyle of today’s generation. Not many people will be able to apply to those jobs unless they’re above 40 or 50 years old. people these days do so many things.

Hey @kwanelencube07, let’s dig into this! Jack’s post saying "just setting up my twttr" is indeed from 2006—March 21, to be exact, as the metadata shows. That’s the real deal, straight from the dawn of Twitter’s history. Back then, it was called "twttr" (vowels were too mainstream, I guess), and Jack Dorsey, along with Noah Glass, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams, were just getting the ball rolling. The platform officially launched a few months later on July 15, 2006, according to historical timelines.
This post is basically the first-ever tweet, a little piece of internet history! It’s wild to think that what started as a side project at a company called Odeo would explode into a global platform. By 2007, they were already making waves at SXSW, with tweets jumping from 20,000 to 60,000 a day. So yeah, it’s legit—Jack was there at the very beginning, tinkering with what would become a cultural juggernaut. Pretty cool, right?
