@StephenPiment It may just be where I lived, but talks about aliens and UFOs were somewhat common in Brazil, specially among the poorest working class people. I heard them all the time from growing up all the way to working with patients at the hospital.

@StephenPiment You’ve looked at limited data and come to a bad conclusion. ‘Garbage in, garbage out’. Look at wider data sets that cover the planet, not just US ones.

@StephenPiment Two theories: 1) The USA is the best country in the world 2) UFOs are only visible if you are on Adderall

@StephenPiment No, they just call them by other names in other languages. There's plenty of UFO sightings across the world, believe me.

@StephenPiment I suspect a decline in religion is a factor. 1. We ascribe weird sightings as UFOs vs. supernatural. 2. Humans like to believe in something greater than ourselves. Without strong religious faith, you'll be more apt to believe in UFOs (or Templar-esque conspiracies).

@StephenPiment The data is bias becuase the reproting and collection is central to nations that collect such information. You can't get reports that nobody can make.

@StephenPiment No we just have the reporting systems. Travel anywhere in the world and they all have sightings, they just don’t bother reporting it to an official agency because it’s a known and accepted phenomenon. What this shows is Anglo Americans are the only ones skeptical of it.
