People don't do character bits on YouTube anymore. You don't see game reviewers with an evil doppelganger telling them to play sonic 06 anymore. Why is that?

@Prowl8413 There's a game that came out recently called Lucid Blocks that actually has this exact feature and it's pretty sick

We are so used to block games generating the world horizontally forever... has anyone REALLY thought what Hytale will look like if it generates VERTICALLY forever??? What biome could you find 2000 blocks underground, or 10,000 blocks in the sky?

to any artists hesitant to try their hand at hytale's worldgen: i picked it up just over a month ago having never done a day of programming in my life, and this is where i'm at today you should definitely give it a try. entire worlds are waiting

Another attempt at the voxel physics idea where voxels rejoin the grid. They now join over time once slow enough, and lerp into position

The reason why this mindset exists is because for a lot of younger gamers it really is the norm; most games they've played (especially multiplayer ones) get continuous updates for years to come. Just look at Minecraft for example.

@REN_12234 @alteregoanyyy @Stryxo Pretty much. And I dont think it's inherently bad to add fluff just for the sake of making the world of a game feel more full, but it sucks when people have been wanting actual new content for years but get bloat instead.

okay look sometimes I get the whole, "mojang lazy" whatever debate but I do not want the game to be like terraria with a trillion new things every update. I play minecraft because it's minecraft, not because I want it to have more shit in it.

@alteregoanyyy @Stryxo My biggest issue with Modern Minecraft is all the bloat. There are so many things in the game atp that serve no real purpose and dont interact with anything. They exist purely to go "Oh, thats cool I guess." and then you never think about them again.

@Stryxo I would argue most people just want updates that are actually linked to Minecraft's core. Nobody wants Minecraft to stop being Minecraft, people just want the game to expand upon it's strengths rather than adding another mob that doesnt do anything and 5 more blocks.

New stuff is cool, I like new stuff, and I also have issues with Mojang's updates and how they fit into Minecraft, I'm just saying I feel like a lot of people want updates that radically change what Minecraft is at it's core to ape different games that AREN'T Minecraft
