EPA works with stakeholders across the country to advance our core mission of protecting human health and the environment while also supporting the unprecedented growth in domestic energy production we see today. I was grateful to join @AFPMonline earlier this week to discuss how the Trump EPA is rightsizing regulatory obligations and streamlining the permitting process to unleash more American energy and lower costs for consumers.

I was honored to speak at the @AFPMonline annual meeting in New Orleans. Here in Louisiana, the energy industry is about so much more than numbers on a page. It means good jobs, strong communities, and opportunity for thousands of families. I’ll always fight to protect American energy and stand with the people who keep our country running.

Today, the Trump administration announced it was issuing a 60-day waiver of the Jones Act. AFPM President and CEO @CThompsonAFPM responded by lauding the act as a good first step and encouraged the administration to take a closer look at reducing RFS costs.

The answer? 1885. That year, Sylvanus Bowser of Fort Wayne, Indiana invented the first gasoline pump. It was a simple construction, basically a metal tank in a wooden cabinet and operated by a suction pump, but Bowser successfully sold it to a grocery store owner in town. Little did he know his invention would change the world.
