Republicans were sent to Washington on a mission to reverse the failed policies of the socialist Democrats and restore the greatness of America. On Thursday, House Republicans will unlock a third budget reconciliation to stop Democrat obstruction, support our troops, and safeguard the integrity of our elections. We will use every tool and resource at our disposal to govern our great nation and deliver on behalf of the freedom-loving people who gave us unified Republican leadership.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of my friend and Senate Budget Chairman, Lindsey Graham. Lindsey was a patriot, a fearless leader, and a tireless champion for our men and women in uniform. His big Southern personality, infectious sense of humor, and steadfast commitment to our nation made him a treasured friend and an exceptional public servant. His leadership was instrumental in delivering President Trump’s historic One Big Beautiful Bill, and his love for our troops and unwavering commitment to our nation’s security leaves a lasting legacy. The Palmetto State was blessed to have Chairman Graham represent them for so many years, our nation is stronger and safer on account of his leadership, and my experience was made all the richer for having known and served with him. Anne and I will be praying for Lindsey’s family, his loved ones, and his staff.

John Adams called Independence Day America’s “Day of Deliverance.” The Declaration of Independence - that sacred parchment - is the cornerstone of American exceptionalism and the foundation for the longest-sustained constitutional democracy in the world. It affirms the birthright of every American citizen: our God-given rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The Declaration of Independence wasn’t just a list of grievances; it was a treatise on man and his natural rights - a mission statement for how such men should be governed. No one at the time gave us a fighting chance of defeating the world’s superpower for our independence. And few predicted we’d persist for a quarter of a millennium. Our founding visionaries weren’t sure of either outcome themselves, but they believed in our inherent rights and God-given freedoms and would rather die fighting for them than live under tyranny. They trusted in “divine Providence” for protection and mutually pledged to each other “our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.” They held fast to truth, they stood firm for justice, and they fought like warrior poets for our freedom. And, by the grace of Almighty God, our revolutionary ancestors gave birth to the most powerful and prosperous nation in human history. Let’s honor their vision, courage, and conviction by solemnly dedicating ourselves to preserving this “Great Experiment” in liberty and self-government. Yet when Congress fails to pass appropriations on time, the burden falls squarely on seniors, service members, and hardworking Americans. I introduced the Prevent Government Shutdowns Act to force Congress to stay in Washington until it finishes its work. And the American people agree! A new YouGov national poll found: 📊 81% support forcing Congress to stay in D.C. until appropriations are complete 📊 80% think the Prevent Government Shutdowns Act should receive a vote 📊 66% are more likely to support lawmakers who back the bill Congress should be held to the same standard as every family, farmer, rancher, and business owner in America: do your job, meet your responsibilities, and don't go home until the work is done.

The federal government borrows $6 billion every day - of which over $3 billion is solely for interest payments on our national debt. But Republicans are addressing this crisis. For the first time in over a decade, outside the pandemic, the deficit as a percentage of GDP has DECREASED year over year, and we’re not done yet.

The recent detections of New World Screwworm are a serious concern for Texas ranchers, producers, and rural communities. Livestock production is the backbone of the West Texas economy and a critical component of our nation's food supply. I have full confidence in Secretary Rollins and the Trump Administration's response to this threat. USDA is moving aggressively to contain these cases and prevent further spread, and I will continue working to ensure they have the resources and support needed to protect American agriculture.

The Secure America Act is headed to President Trump’s desk, and our brave men and women who stand on the thin line to defend our sovereign borders and safety finally have the funding and certainty they need to do their jobs. For 76 days, Democrats held the Department of Homeland Security hostage. They walked away from the appropriations process, shut down Homeland Security operations, and used the safety of the American people as political leverage. Even today, every single House Democrat voted to defund ICE and Border Patrol. But Republicans, who were elected up and down the ballot by the American people to secure the border, enforce the law, and restore order, refused to allow this back-handed attempt to revive the chaos of Biden-Harris open border policies. The American people fundamentally rejected the chaos of the last four years. They elected Republicans for the promise of secure borders, safer communities, and restoring rule of law. The Secure America Act makes good on that promise.

There has never been a simpler and clearer contrast between the two parties in this country. Today, Democrats voted to defund Border Patrol and effectively abolish ICE.

Republicans are done with the obstruction. We were sent here to restore the rule of law and put the American people's safety and security first. That's exactly what we're doing today.

The American people gave President Trump an overwhelming victory and gave Republicans unified leadership in Congress. The number one reason they did that was to restore the rule of law and put the American people's safety and security first. That's exactly what we're doing.

After years of rhetoric comparing ICE to the KKK and the Gestapo, is it any surprise threats against law enforcement have skyrocketed? Assaults against ICE agents are up 1,300%. Death threats are up 8,000%. Republicans are fully funding ICE and CBP - and we're doing it for three years so Democrats can't hold our law enforcement officers hostage in another government funding fight.

Democrats' long-time objective has been to defund immigration enforcement and abolish ICE. In fact, they held the American people's safety and security hostage for 76 days by blocking funding for @DHSgov. Republicans are using reconciliation to ensure our @CBP agents and @ICEgov officers have the resources they need to enforce the law, secure the border, and protect the American people.
