This is Shadow. She passed away on Sept 23rd at age 15 years. She lived with us for 14 years, and we miss her lively presence in our home. This is a short biography.

We're on hour three of the Elon Musk super PAC lottery lawsuit in a court in Philadelphia. Larry Krasner has been testifying that the entire premise of the Musk lottery was a "scam" and a "grift" and "disingenuous." The Musk team has been arguing that this was not a "lottery" because its $1 million winners were actually pre-selected based on whom would be the best spokespeople for the super PAC. Team Musk says their winners were not "random."

Rightly or wrongly, GWB is viscerally hated on both the Left and the Trump Right. I’m not sure who they think his endorsement would persuade to vote for Harris, any more than Cheney’s has.

Programming languages have widely varying ability to communicate logic succinctly. If you look at character counts of 10 basic programs in each, Java has 2x higher entropy than Python. Very different result for natural spoken languages.

I think it’s relevant and newsworthy that Trump is floating the idea of replacing the income tax with tariffs. And as much as I think protectionism is stupid, I’d even be open to swapping one for the other if I thought it was feasible. Consumption taxes are better than income taxes (even tho, again, tariffs are a really dumb form of consumption taxes and you couldn’t possibly raise enough revenue to make it work). But ffs can people please stop taking this idea seriously? I don’t mean as policy, but as politics. The president can’t do anything of the sort unilaterally. And if you think he has the political chops or stamina to get something like that through Congress (and the courts) you’re higher than a moon bat. This is all fan fiction bs. And anti-Trump and pro-Trump people alike are taking the bait.

Trump eluded to a "strategy" between he and Speaker Johnson to nullify the election results and throw it to the House to decide. There's a small problem with that... Presidential election results are certified on Jan 6th. A new congress is sworn in on Jan 3rd. The chances of Trump losing, but the Republicans holding the house is astronomical. Without the Republicans in control, there is no Speaker Johnson. This leaves a defeated Trump with one option, a old-fashioned coup with his MAGA mob taking on the most powerful military in world history. That would be an interesting ten minutes.
