Things like this are where the โ€œChristian moralityโ€ is clearly something new, different, not-universal. Sure, all cultures consider murder to be wrong. But Christianity had many new moral ideas which repulsed others, like that God couldโ€™ve once been covered in blood and bile.
Harristotle al-Hanafi@harrishanafite

Porphyry, in his 15-volume treatise titled 'Against the Christians', writes: "How can we admit that the divine became an embryo, and that after its birth, it was wrapped up in swaddling clothes, covered with blood, bile, and even worse things?"

@Hanwarrior @Abathurchan Iโ€™m aware, but at least theyโ€™re trying to engage instead of isolating themselves (though there is also a camp of evangelicals who do this emerging from an Anabaptist view of the world)

The Old High Churchmen was the supporter of the established position of the Church in the nation, not so much liturgy. Even if establishment is no longer possible today, the Old High Church would be supportive of Christian excellence in all echelons snd institutions of society.

High Churchmen need to have a better vision for Anglicanism than liturgywars, because by every metric the Evangelicals are demographically winning and have stayed more orthodox. Sure you can claim Sydney isn't Anglican, but they have influence in GAFCON, and Ft Worth doesn't

@blessedabsalom the first generation of ritualists were out proclaiming the Gospel in front of altars set up in the alleyways of impoverished slums. A return to their roots is needed

@AndrewesFish The evangelicals are going to win out over us so over and over again so long as the proclamation of the Gospel by way of biblical and theological preaching is periphery in our tradition.

@avrilbradley23 I think the difficulty is that this Dem primary consists of the most polar-opposite kinds of Democrats so whichever candidate gets the nomination there's going to be a contigent of democrats who just won't turn out. Also Mike Rogers is like the most "Republican Winneallot"

What's striking about these polls is that they all show a very close MoE race for Michigan irrespective of nominee even though 2026 is a Dem year and this Senate seat is already held by a Democrat.

I shared some on here, but now that I have recieved my letter of appointment I can officially announce: I have been appointed to St George's Round Church in Halifax for 2 years as of July 1st 2026 as Assistant Curate. It is my "home church" in a way and I am pleased to be back.

@ryanburge Itโ€™s a good book. I recommended it to my pastor. But my congregation is stuck. Itโ€™s hard to go against the general drift of the denomination and moderate.

@ilikebigbiblez Attended our local C4SO a few times early on my Anglican journey. The female โ€œpriestโ€ was baptizing the infant of two gay men and spent several minutes gushing over how the two men had met. That was the last time I went
