Like you, I have a green card.
Like you, I married an American.
Like you, I’m raising American-born children.
But unlike you, I respect the system that let me in.
Is it perfect? Far from it. Is it flawed? Yes, in many ways.
Is it still one of the fairest justice systems in the world? Absolutely.
I’ll take the American system over the one in Syria, where you were born. And I'll definitely take it over the Hamas system, whose massacre of Israelis you celebrated on campus.
What happened to you wasn’t injustice. It was accountability. You tried to game the system. You wanted the benefits of America while promoting hatred against it. You’re not angry at the system. You’re angry you got caught.
You came as a guest and acted like the landlord.
Just like you did at @Columbia.
That kind of stuff might work on campus, but it doesn’t work with the U.S. government.
So here’s my advice to you: Wherever you try to immigrate next, start by respecting the law. Take the time to understand the culture before you lead protests for its downfall. And above all, come - and behave - like a guest.
Like you, I am a guest in the U.S. Unlike you, I act like one. A grateful one.

The government just fired the two immigration judges who refused to deport Rümeysa Öztürk and Mohsen Mahdawi. The immigration judge who ordered my deportation—Jamee E. Comans—was promoted right after issuing her decision against me. This is why they drag us into immigration "court." It's a kangaroo court: the administration is judge, jury, and executioner. I never had faith I'd get justice there. The federal courts are the only place left where this mockery can be stopped. We'll see if they do the right thing.
