New paper out today in @CurrentBiology, led by the awesome Jess Williams, showing that the strength of the tilt illusion fluctuates with oscillation phase. We also give an explanation for those puzzling temporally distant phase effects.

Are neural oscillations an emergent property of the brain? My two cents: sure, but not in the ordinary sense.
When I think of emergence I think of the V-shape in a flock of birds, or life as emerging from matter undergoing biological processes.
