Under Prime Minister Carney’s government, Canada has just now introduced the new Canadian Space Launch Act, which establishes a clear regulatory framework for orbital launches, payload deliveries, and re-entries from Canadian soil. This legislation will implement the development of domestic space and military capabilities by combining practical rules with major infrastructure investments in Atlantic Canada. The federal government has committed $200 million over 10 years (with more funding to come) to lease a dedicated launch pad at Spaceport Nova Scotia near Canso, with construction expected to finish around 2028. At the same time, emerging sites such as the Atlantic Spaceport Complex in Newfoundland are advancing, creating opportunities for both commercial and even more complex Canadian defence-related launches. Through the Launch the North initiative, the government is also providing funding to Canadian companies to develop responsive launch vehicles, also aiming for initial operations by 2028. These steps reduce reliance on foreign providers and a once trusted ally to assist our glorious Nation to build an incredibly strong commercial and military space sector that attracts trustworthy international partners. Canada is steadily positioning itself as a capable player in space/military innovation and exploration, contributing reliable launch options from its Atlantic coast to future missions. True North, strong and free, Canada now builds its own path to the stars with determination and unity. Roger that, Canada. 🇨🇦🚀👨🚀 #canpoli #Canada

Our government is committed to working hard on an ambitious agenda to build Canada strong. Liberals now comprise a majority of MPs in the House of Commons. Prime Minister Mark Carney and his government are determined to work constructively both in the House and in parliamentary committees. There is an undeniable, long-standing principle in Parliament: a party that has the majority of seats in the House also has a majority in committees. For that reason, I intend to give notice of a motion that reflects this principle to be considered in the House in the coming days.
