It is with the deepest love and respect for Charlie that I write this post. These outrageous posts and positions online are a small majority. It’s difficult to see that with how belligerent and bombastic the rhetoric is, but that is part of the design. There is no better formula for sowing division than highlighting the extremes of opposing sides of an ideology until each side is convinced that the other is unworthy of equal treatment. This is inherently a zero sum game. With that in mind, I have decided on five rules that I will personally follow in order to avoid falling into the trap that is clearly being set: 1. I will not allow outrage to corrupt my heart and mind. 2. ⁠I will never resort to violence in any form unless someone is actively trying to harm me or my family. 3. ⁠I will not allow any form of electronic media to tell me who my neighbor is. 4. ⁠I will use my own discretion to weigh the fruits of each person on an individual basis. 5. ⁠I will never be tolerant of political violence in any form, from any person/institution, for any reason at all. Something is brewing. I don’t know what, or how, or when… but the time is likely coming in which people will be pushed to pick a side. I categorically refuse.
