@pauljonesAIR @prestonstew_ The US is not going to occupy Iran (maybe Kharg Island). You are going to fight a very different sort of a war in Iran, using very different weapons - and remember, those 6000 and many more injured, were mostly killed by Iranian-backed militias.

Maths Iraq 6000 dead Americans. Americans left. Afghanistan 3000 dead Americans. Americans left. Iran def thinks that if they can that sort of number of Americans, America will leave. Are they right? They will do their best to test it, if given the opportunity. How many dead Americans do you think the home front will accept? Because whatever number that is, your plan has to work without hitting it. If you haven't got a number, it's lower than you'd like. As to airpower controlling the battlefield, yes. But unless you then take physical control of the country with boots on the ground, that really is neither here nor there.
