She looked dead when family saw her in the hospital. Doctors had to remove her eye and she faces many more surgeries, including rebuilding her mouth. These two demons deserve the worst punishment possible. No mercy for animals who do this to their own child.

When he landed, he couldn't feel anything below the waist. For a moment, Burghardt thought he'd end up in a wheelchair. Then he wiggled his toes. "Good. I'm in business." Medics rushed in with a stretcher, but Burghardt refused. He had young Marines in his unit watching, and he wasn't going to let them see the team leader carried away. So he stood up, walked to the helicopter under his own power, and turned back toward the insurgents who had just tried to end him. He raised his middle finger. "I lost that round. But I'll be back next week." He was back disarming bombs in less than a month.
