should marketing agency founders have a big following on X? on one hand, its obvious. you are charging premium prices for a premium service of growing project's socials and acquiring users. for someone to trust you and pay a premium price, they want to see that you know what you are doing. case studies are great to achieve this, but its common to use the agency's founder's profile as a case study in itself, and that's completely understandable, as premium marketing services are expected to carry a lot of social capital and connections now, on the other hand, a founder without a big presence is probably locked in on clients. he doesn't care about followers, why would he? he is focused on making revenue and not being a timeline jester. building a personal and a brand account require two wildly different skillsets, so agency founders with killer execution might be fantastic at growing a brand account while not even having an active presence on twitter. my take: agency founders should keep clients as the number one priority. I use twitter to amplify some clients, share takes in my niche/s, and most importantly have fun with friends. im happy to be a nobody if that means keeping clients happy and focusing on improving what im best at
