@drunklibshill He's a boring centrist technocrat who's smart enough not to axe social programs (Starmer take note) and who's positioning vs the US and economic policies broadly make sense. His main opponent is also a lame-duck who doesn't realise it yet.

Pierre Poilievre, once again, is showing Canadians that he has no vision to create jobs and grow the economy. ย  For decades, Canadians have advocated for a modern, fast, inter-city rail network. Alto is a generational investment that will transform travel and connect communities. It will boost GDP by $35 billion annually, create over 51,000 well-paying jobs, and help Canadians work, study, and travel more efficiently. ย  Pierre Poilievre is turning his back on Canadians from Quebec City to Toronto and the communities in between. Investing in High-Speed Rail means building a more connected, competitive Canada, and proves Canada can get big things done. ย  The Conservatives, as usual, think small. Turning away from nation-building investments is the wrong choice, and one Canadians reject at a time when we need to build and grow.

@BagelPolling # of RIM was never confirmed either, all decisions have been made by RCN, no political input in ship design on this side of the border.

@BagelPolling The BAE gun was the original design from the RN nothing to do with USN choices. Leonardo is being difficult with many navies abt it. The other changes had been announced long ago, for cost.

Quietly while nobody was looking the Liberals changed the River class design again. Its now even easier to fully integrate into the USN since they've dropped Sea Ceptor capabilities and replaced Leonardo's guns with BAE guns used by the USN. Funny that.

@Bone348 @SpaceWalkerReal Why are Liberals unable to comprehend that spending this amount of money to benefit a small part of Canadian population is a huge waste of money? Millions are lined up at foodbanks yet Carney is spending 10s of billions just days before 2 byelections. It's a huge waste of money.

@SpencerFernando I say let's stick to 48 F35 and add~60 GCAP fighters plus 50-100 CCA drones, you've got yourself an air force for the next 40 yrs.

@JimmyDunphy1 @sarobertsonca Investments in infrastructure aren't social spending which was the majority of COVID spending... Facts are clear: the US did it w/ the New Deal, Europe w/ the Marshall Plan, and we also did after WW2 and in smaller scale after 2008, smart infra. investment delivers growth.

@Bone348 @sarobertsonca Only an idiot would look at the worst GDP growth per capita in the G7, the highest debt to income ratio in the G7 and the worst affordability in the developed world and think: "If we just spend more money..." We've already more than doubled the national debt lol. How much more?

@JimmyDunphy1 @sarobertsonca That is some proven Infrastructure investment economics that Stephen Harper put in practice on the advice of a team that included a man named Mark Carney to have the best post-2008 recovery in the world.

@JimmyDunphy1 @sarobertsonca If u want to solve affordability u can only make sure ppl make more money, bringing prices back down=deflation aka complete economic crash. How do u grow salaries; INVEST, especially in infrastructure and locally-made equipment, bc they're local, i.e a massive steel HSR line.

@Bone348 @sarobertsonca If anything you just said was anywhere near true; Why aren't all the other g7 countries ranked near the bottom of the OECD in affordability like Canada is?

@NoahGairn Here we go! F-35 > GCAP should be the path. GCAP will offer such a leap in capability over even the F-35, let alone the archaic Gripen. The range will be an absolute game changer for the RCAF. It also opens the possibility of the plane carrying A2A missiles with massive range.

@NoahGairn 35/GCAP would be a hugely expensive mixed fleet with significant overlap in strengths & weaknesses. 30xF35 & 80xGripen into a 40xGCAP/80xGripen makes more sense, but again the costs are high. Even USAF leaders think itโ€™s a giant waste of money to use stealth fighters for NORAD.
