I've recently released the Light Propagation Volumes (custom GI plugin) for #UE5 LPV is an algorithm of resolving the diffuse light bounce from the perspective of the sun in world space (firstly introduced in 2009 by Crytek). It's non-temporal, performant and lightweight.

More progress with the erosion filter combining it with basic landmass brushes on an 8x8k terrain (too big for most games). Once I make progress on splat map support for erosion I can add a landscape material. Also masking erosion effects by splines to support biomes is needed.

Building off @runevision's code example and awesome tutorial, I converted the effect into HLSL and fought Unreals completely undocumented landmass plugin for UE5. The result realtime erosion!

@SandyofCthulhu I've always interpreted it as the main group lacking hope. They approached all other issues reasonably and logically, the perfect counter to horror movie cliches and dangers. But when they met the wall, they resorted to next "logical" choice, rather than have hope and wait.

That was a miserable ending. It was way inferior and less scary than the written story. And it also made no sense. If all they had to do was hold off long enough why would the soldiers commit suicide. It makes the monsters seem puny of they can just trivially get shot. Ugh.
