Here's my stance on Auston Matthews and other high value players. I'm of an age where this wasn't my first look at a good Leafs era.
As sparse as the good times have been, this isn't all I know. I don't really give a fuck who's on the team.

Bettman never backs off and reconsiders anything. He sold this playoff format on building rivalries which is pure BS. He said the real reason yesterday, it's too have more games in the first round...That's more $$ for the NHL an Clubs. But it is short sighted. What happens to the interest and TV ratings in later rounds after the best teams with large fan bases are knocked out early?

Something I think about when Gary Bettman defends anything vociferously, like the playoff format, was spending two decades on Arizona Coyotes Island.

Although the Cup is the ultimate goal, it’s absurd to suggest the Gilmour or Sundin Leafs teams were failures because they didn’t get a Cup. This Loser Core can barely get out of the first round.

MLB were known as the league run by dinosaurs who opposed change and even they started listening to their fans. The changes they've made in the last few years have made the game way better. Gary has no interest in listening to the fans, players, media, broadcast partners etc.
