The NBA announced today that @DetroitPistons forward Ausar Thompson was named Eastern Conference Defensive Player of the Month for games played in March. ย Thompson (6-7, 205) recorded 32 steals in March, 2.5 per game, and recorded a career-high seven steals in a win vs. Golden State on March 20. Thompson recorded three-or-more steals in six of 13 games played in the month, led the team with a 101.6 defensive rating, and led the Eastern Conference with 46 stocks (STL+BLK) in the month in the month of March. ย Thompson, 23, ranks first in the NBA this season with a career-high 2.01 steals per game and 4.4 deflections per game. ย Earlier this season, Thompson became one of just four players in NBA history to record at least 1,040 rebounds, 420 assists, 275 steals and 145 blocks within the first 180 games of a career.

Jokic is in a similar boat with a few decent traits on that end (which really hardly translate to defensive impact solely because he is a big who sucks when it comes to the things an anchor needs to do on that end) while Luka just straight up has positional size and nothing else

Yea so nobody is claiming SGA to be an elite one on one defender
He thrives in passing lanes and in helpside d because heโs a legitimate top rim-protecting guard in the sport
May not be the most valuable of traits but heโs elite in two skills that fit the mold of the unit
