Some of the personal abuse that @stellacreasy has experienced in recent days has been off-the-scale. The abuse directed at women on social media is one of the most disturbing things I've learnt from being on this platform. It needs to be said, however, that this week's change in abortion laws - of which she is a prominent aupporter - is one of the most sickening changes to British society ever. It's now legal in this country to "terminate" up until birth. It's basically infanticide. We're killing babies that could easily survive outside the womb and it's been done without any meaningful public debate - piggy-backing as an amendment to a barely relevant bill. Dark. Dark in so many ways. I don't use the word "wicked" lightly but that's what this legislation is. And that so few people in this country even seem to care about what is now lawful is the saddest thing of all. "Great" Britain? Not while this law stands.

A while back, I learned something mindblowing about the geological history of the Mediterranean Sea, and I just can't get it out of my head. Now I'm going to make it *your* problem too. Sorry. Hang onto your hat. This gets wild. 1/

In 2024 NHS staff reported working unpaid overtime equivalent to at least 49โ€‰000 full time employees. A BMJ data analysis finds this discretionary effort, which has long underpinned NHS delivery, is declining. What does this mean for workforce planning? bmj.com/content/392/bmโ€ฆ

I went to event at which an NHS trust revealed it was considering replacing two thirds of its resident doctors in the name of efficiency (yes, really). Here's my response to the debate that underlies the idea #commentsJump" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">hsj.co.uk/comment/the-nhโ€ฆ (free to read after registration)

The country on strike. Massive numbers on the streets. Internet cut. Mullahs seen at Moscow airport. Yet the regime still shoot at protestors. Many dead. But the people keep on coming. The courage of our fellow human beings is staggering. #IranRevolution2026 Tehran tonight โฌ‡๏ธ

๐Ÿšจ We have further empirical PROOF the BBC is biased, crooked and anti-Reform: In depth analysis shows the BBC is 6 TIMES more likely to report on a Reform councillor leaving their position than Labour and Tory ones doing the same since May 1st. This is despite 5 TIMES as many Labour councillors having lost the whip than Reform ones, and 4 times as many Tories, over the same period. So the BBC is ONLY interested in reporting negative news on Reform councils. They are an utter disgrace, and it will not work! Full analysis in the Telegraph ๐Ÿ‘‡

Good grief woman, give it a rest. Anyone and everyone has been to Edgware road, the place is buzzing with amazing food and cafes. Women being stared at is no new phenomenon- it happens everywhere-you're not special and nor is it due to your race or theirs. Believe me, there are far more beautiful women than you who sit in Edgware road every weekend, doing a shisha without a single issue. Perhaps diversify your friend group a little more, enjoy modern London and stop complaining.
Alex Phillips@ThatAlexWoman

Walking down Edgware Road, I can feel leering eyes burning into me I feel almost naked. Exposed. Extremely self-conscious of my blondeness and Western dress. I zip my coat up as high as possible and tuck my long hair down into the collar I avert my eyes to the pavement and try to walk as quickly as possible, willing myself to be invisible. I am trying to ignore the hissed comments from men sat outside coffee shops with Shisha and cigarettes. There is a tight fist of anxiety in my sternum as my pace quickens. But this isn't a far flung, dangerous land that comes with a Governmental Travel Advisory Warning for solo women. This is my capital city. London. Yet I know I don't belong here. I am the exotic stranger having to adapt my dress and behaviour for my own safety.

@frmikeschmitz just listening to one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church in CIY at the moment & thought about you when I heard about this book.
Madeline Grant@Madz_Grant

This is the finest book I have read all year; beautifully written, funny, uplifting. Incredibly proud of @_F_B_G_ for somehow writing it on top of his busy ministry and numerous other pieces of work. If so inclined, you can get your copy here: amazon.co.uk/Twelve-Churcheโ€ฆ

So, in response to @ShaunLinternโ€™s Sunday Times exposรฉ at the weekend, more than 1,000 midwives, doulas, hypnotherapists, acupuncturists, and others have signed this open letter - which claims that "normal birth at any costโ€ - a key finding of the Morecambe Bay Investigation (2015) and a factor identified in other inquiry reports as contributing to avoidable harm and death - was made up by journalists and is a โ€œdistortionโ€ of the truth. If the intention of the letterโ€™s signatories was to show the public that a cohort of practicing maternity professionals have not only failed to learn from major maternity inquiries - but apparently havenโ€™t even read the reports - job well done. openletter.earth/an-open-letterโ€ฆ
