Imagine waiting 20 years to honor your parents, only for the system to say no. 💔 Charles "Duke" Tanner and his brothers faced this heartbreaking reality when supervised release blocked them from spreading their parents' ashes together. Everyone deserves the space to grieve and say goodbye. Our justice system should uplift families, not tear them apart during moments of profound loss. It's time for a change that prioritizes healing and human dignity. Ready to help build a system that puts families first? Become a REFORMer today. tr.ee/jxRTUvC3u6

REFORM is proud to have been part of Pennsylvania’s 2026 Criminal Justice Advisory Board (CJAB) Conference in State College last month! 🙌 The conference was an opportunity for us to connect with criminal justice, behavioral health, and treatment partners to share the positive impact Act 44 is having on the Commonwealth’s probation system and the importance of connecting people on supervision to education, training, and employment. Grateful for the conversations, the collaboration, and the opportunity to contribute to reform in Pennsylvania. If you want to help create change, become a REFORMer today! tr.ee/jxRTUvC3u6

Doug Burris is a former Chief U.S. Probation Officer. He’s been doing this work for decades. Here’s what he says about the Safer Supervision Act: “It makes more sense than anything I’ve seen…and it really will make a difference in the community. It will lower crime rates.” Doug Burris understands that when people who aren’t a risk to public safety are over-supervised, it can be counterproductive. He understands that resources shouldn’t be spent supervising people who have already made progress; instead, those resources should be devoted to those who need the most support. Twenty-three years of experience in the field have made it clear to Doug that this legislation will make us all safer. We should listen. Join Doug in supporting the Safer Supervision Act. tr.ee/MoZ3oRYKH9

Huge news for federal supervision reform: Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche (@DAGToddBlanche) just agreed we need to reform federal supervision and committed to working with Senator Coons (@ChrisCoons) and Senator Lee (@SenMikeLee) on the Safer Supervision Act. The Acting AG adds his voice to a growing movement of support for the bill, including 150+ groups in our Safer Supervision Coalition like FLEOA, NDAA, Right on Crime, Prison Fellowship, and others across the political spectrum. Americans across the country have already signed the petition calling on Congress to act, and polling from Fabrizio Ward shows 79% of voters across party lines back this bill. It's past time to fix our federal supervision system. We urge Congress to move this bill forward.

Know what’s wild? If you’re on supervision, you can be sent to prison for something as small as missing curfew. Not for committing a new crime. Just breaking a rule. Technical violations like a missed check-in or crossing county lines are one of the biggest drivers of incarceration. At REFORM, we’re fighting for a system that rewards progress instead of punishing people for minor mistakes. Join the movement: tr.ee/jxRTUvC3u6

Years ago, Stanley Richards was incarcerated. Today he’s the NYC DOC Commissioner. He’s lived on both sides of the system, and he knows how it needs to change. Join us. On June 17 hear from Stanley Richards, NYC’s first formerly incarcerated Commissioner of the New York City Department of Correction as a featured guest of REFORM’s Speaker Series. Commissioner Richards will share what he’s learned from his experience in reentry, public service, and leading one of the country’s largest correctional facilities. He brings decades of experience and has been an inspiring change-maker. This is a rare conversation on leadership, accountability, and what it takes to build a more effective and humane system. 📍 REFORM’s NYC Office 🗓 June 17, 12-1 PM EST RSVP now: tr.ee/XWOP7Uo1A_

More than 650,000 people leave prison each year and re-enter society. But what are we doing to make sure that those who want to succeed are able to do so? That’s the question that motivates @ScottEPeyton1, the Director of Government Affairs for @prisonfellowshp. Scott is working to build a supervision system that focuses on structure and accountability, improving public safety for all. Scott is a staunch supporter of the Safer Supervision Act because he understands what works and what doesn’t. When probation officers have manageable caseloads and can focus on people who truly need additional monitoring, everyone is safer. Join Scott in supporting the #SaferSupervisionAct today: tr.ee/MoZ3oRYKH9

This is how laws actually change. Not by chance. By people. The REFORM Advocacy Institute (RAI) is where passion turns into action. RAI is a growing network of directly impacted advocates, leaders, and organizers across the country who are learning how to push for smarter supervision and real second chances. From sharing their stories to organizing locally, RAI members are driving the movement forward in their states. Why it matters: real reform doesn’t happen on its own. It takes informed, dedicated people showing up, speaking out, and pushing for change. Not part of RAI? You can still be part of the movement. Become a REFORMer. tr.ee/jxRTUvC3u6

This Mother’s Day, we’re thinking about the mothers navigating incarceration and supervision. These mothers are often separated from their children for years at a time, forced to parent through phone calls, emails, visitation rooms, and impossible distance. We are honored to partner with @KimKardashian and Ladies of Hope Ministries (@thelohm) to enable 50 incarcerated moms to spend this Mother's Day with their children. They deserve better. We must do better.

Mother’s Day is a day for celebrating the women who serve as the backbone of their families and communities. Here at REFORM, we pay special tribute to the mothers who are navigating the supervision system while showing up every day to ensure the well-being of their kids. These are mothers who keep going, even when the odds are stacked against them. Today, we honor all mothers, and we recommit to building a system that sets them up to succeed.

We are honored to help reunite 50 mothers with their children this weekend. As a mother, I cannot imagine being away from my babies and some of these women haven’t seen their kids in decades due to the expense of travel. @KimKardashian @REFORM @thelohm @EdyHaney

Federal supervision is supposed to help people safely reintegrate into society. But for so many of the 110,000+ people on federal supervision, it has become a second sentence. We're working to change that. The Safer Supervision Act would focus supervision resources on the cases that truly need it, better protecting community stability and safety while also creating real, evidence-based pathways off of supervision for people who are doing the work to rebuild their lives. “The vast majority of folks who are incarcerated are going to be back in the community. They’re going to be released. Providing smart supervision…is so important.” Bill Palatucci is a lawyer and policy expert with more than 40 years of experience. A lifelong conservative active in Republican politics, he understands the importance of spending resources wisely. That’s why he supports the Safer Supervision Act. “The Safer Supervision Act is so important,” he says, “because it helps put those resources where they’re really needed. And that’s something everyone can agree on.” Join Bill in supporting the Safer Supervision Act today by signing our petition → link in bio.

This is our shot to transform supervision nationwide. 10,000 people have already signed on. Help us reach 15,000 by the end of the week, and show lawmakers we’re serious. The Safer Supervision Act would modernize federal supervision by rewarding progress, supporting stability, and focusing resources where they matter most. Congress is paying attention. Now we need numbers they can’t ignore. Sign on. (Link in bio)

Most people think that when someone returns to the community, they’re free. But that’s not how supervision works. There are 5.5M people in the justice system, with 3.7M on probation and parole. After a conviction, supervision means living in your community under government monitoring: check-ins, drug tests, surprise visits, curfews, travel limits. One mistake could derail years of progress. REFORM is working to change that. Join us.

For people on supervision, finding a job can feel next to impossible. The stigma of a criminal record alone can prevent employers from giving folks a fair chance. But for employees of Daniel Lynn Brown’s Glass Services Inc., the transformative power of second chances is plain to see. Brown has his own experience of supervision, which makes him able to meet his employees where they are. Take it from Thomas. “Dan’s been down the road…and he has compassion for people like that,” he says. “It’s been good, it’s been fun.” This Second Chance Month, let’s imagine what could happen if second chance hiring became the norm all across the country. Employers would gain access to high-quality talent. People on supervision would get a chance to rebuild. Whole communities would see their economic prospects improve. Do you want to expand second chances and improve communities? Sign up to become a REFORMer today: link in bio.

Civic participation and real public safety go hand in hand. That’s the message our very own Nic Grant, Managing Director of Policy at REFORM Alliance, delivered during a panel discussion at the @NatUrbanLeague ’s 2026 Safe & Just Communities Summit. Right now, 3.7 million Americans are on probation and parole, the largest segment of our justice system. And for too many, supervision doesn’t just restrict freedom; it limits belonging. From voting restrictions to curfews, fees, and constant surveillance, people are physically present in their communities but structurally excluded from fully participating in them. That has real-life consequences for the individuals themselves as well as their families and communities. When we remove barriers to full participation in society, we make second chances possible. Big thanks to Nic for taking part in the discussion and to the NUL for hosting this critically important conversation.

TJ struggled with addiction for years, a path that led to his involvement with the system. While on supervision, he finally found the stability he needed: a second chance to work and rebuild his life. He was hired to work for Daniel Lynn Brown, another person with lived experience in the system. When he met Daniel and told him about his situation, he was welcomed with empathy and understanding. This made all the difference. This Second Chance Month, we celebrate the fact that, today, TJ has a good job and his kids are back in his life. Let’s remember his words: “Don’t give up.”

Nearly 40% of people who leave prison go back. @DSafavianEsq of @CPAC and @UnifyUSOfficial says that violates his conservative values -- and believes that fixing our supervision system is key to protecting public safety and reducing recidivism. David is calling on fellow conservatives to pass the Safer Supervision Act, which will bring fairness and common sense to the federal system.
