@TalentEvaluator I have a deep friendship with a Liberal Christian. It's hard and we've had many arguments and some breaks but we generally return to talking to each other due to our minds clicking on a lot of things which are tragically not religion. Please pray for his soul.

Pray for the soul of his wife and him. Sad situation but politically speaking the people who most want gun control are those who themselves can't be trusted with guns and weapons. They look at a gun and feel a desire of shooting others and/or themselves and imagine everyone does

@zweiwalker89607 The way I view the Republic, its less a democracy and more an intergalactic Union based on Peace and Cooperation, with some level of law keeping things from being too bad in any individual worlds. Very imperfect to say the least.

There are plenty of Catholics who are in favor of the war in Iran, but I'm not aware of anyone who is even trying to make the argument for it from Catholic principles

Second I'm a little unclear whom Sohrab is arguing with right now (besides the editor of First Things, maybe?); it seems to me that the right-leaning Catholic commentariat in the US (a group that includes Sohrab himself!) is pretty skeptical of the Iran War, many influencer Catholics likewise, with a more paranoid tradcath style of anti-war sentiment very much in play as well. Of course some Catholic Republicans support the president, but is there an extant hawkish Catholic neoconservatism that really matters right now? There's the VP's responses to the pope, yes -- but a Catholic VP trying to defend a war that he privately opposed and is currently seeking to end diplomatically feels like the opposite of an important hawkish intellectual tendency.

KENOBI released a month before RAZOR'S EDGE — and while not part of that program, it was similarly an OT stand-alone designed to be easily accessible to new readers. So it's very much in line with what was going on in 2013; my last Old Republic comic had shipped in December 2012.

While KENOBI was not one of the Empire/Rebellion novels (its origin was far earlier, more at farawaypress.com/fiction/starwa…), it sold when it did because the franchise was more receptive to starring vehicles for original trilogy characters than it had been the other times I proposed it.

@cath_menarion One thing I am very very worried about is that as soon as this is all over, the Islamic Republic is going to start massacring people they perceive as dissidents. We know exactly what they're capable of now, and after this, I fear they may get in a rather Stalinist mood.

@cath_menarion The problem is that Trump entered this with unclear goals which change by the minute, and in the end, don't satisfy the calculation which is nessicarry to wage a Just War, and his threat to attack civilians showing a lack of concern for their lives and well being.

@cath_menarion I do think there's a case to be made for it from the fact that: 1. the Removal of the Islamic Republic would in fact be just, especially after the massacres of tens of thousands of people and 2. The threat of a Nuclear Weapon could be extremely dangerous.

@evvywevvy @DouthatNYT At the end of the day, defending an ally with millions of people who desired to be free from Communist tyranny and murder is in fact a Just goal. There are many things to take issue with, regarding both and the South Vietnamese conduct, but the goal itself, that's admirable.
