The 1,300 State Department @StateDept employees who got RIF’ed in July 2025 are still being paid by the US Government despite reports that they have been fired.
In July 2025, the US Department of State under Secretary of State Marco Rubio @SecRubio, removed 1,353 employees (1,107 civil servants and 246 Foreign Service officers) via a Reduction in Force (RIF) order.

The November 12, 2025 continuing resolution reversed RIF actions against the 246 Foreign Service Officers, but the civil servants should have been removed from Federal Service.
We were told that all of these people were FIRED, but they are still secretly being paid. This is such a waste of American taxpayer dollars being spent on paying the salaries of anti-Trump operatives and Deep State bureaucrats who had no purpose being employed under the Trump administration. These 1,300 employees have been paid their full salaries for the last 7 months and majority of them have not had to report to work. They are being paid their full salary with benefits for doing nothing.
Aside from specific court injunctions (which should not affect the civil servants removed prior to October 1, 2025), why are these people still on the State Department’s payroll?
